I agree. I have been lucky enough to find good accuracy with TAC as well. Back in November on Cyber Monday, cabela's had savage trail hunter lite on sale and with rebate I got the rifle in 30-06 for around $280 bucks. My plan with that short barrel was to load it with 130 TTSX and use TAC to...
Out of the deer we have shot with Barnes bullets, 120's in 7-08, 140's in 7MAG, 130's in 308 we have never had a deer make it more than 40 yards and always had excellent blood trails.
As several of you mentioned the 120 TTSX is an excellent bullet for deer in the 7-08. My son has used that combo for the last two years and we have had excellent results. We shot all of the previous batch which was loaded with CFE 223 so I decided to try TAC and bingo!
Did some shooting Friday with my son's Browning 7-08. I believe I have found the load that he will use for this upcoming season. I shot this 3 shot group with Barnes 120 gr TTSX using 44.5 gr of TAC to produce velo of 3146fps! It always super satisfying to get the lethal combo of great accuracy...
I have used 6.5 creed and 7-08 for my kids after they started with a 243. The 120 nosler ballistic tips in 6.5 or 7-08 are deadly on deer even at reduced loads.
I have tried the 135gr Classic hunters in my 6.5 creedmoor. Killed 2 deer this year. Doe went 20 yards with a complete pass through and great blood trail. Buck went 50 yards downhill with complete pass through and excellent blood trail. I would try them again.
Has anyone tried H100V in 6.5 Creed with 120 gr bullets and can I please get quickload info for that if it exist?
Primer BR2, Fed 210M
Rifle barrel length 20 and 22 inch (I have two rifles).
The reason I ask is that I tried this powder with 135gr pills in 6.5CM and got phenomenal accuracy and...
I tried this bullet with BLC2, TAC and CFE 223 and got great results with all 3. The accuracy was superb and the on game performance was devasting. My brother got my nephew a savage trail hunter in 308 and I convinced him to try this bullet. Between the two of us we have taken 5 deer with the...
I tried the 120gr Nosler ballistic tip to get the 3185 group and the Barnes 120gr TTSX to get the 3148 group. I have loaded some more of the Barnes to try in my son's Browning to see what velo I get in that rifle. My savage always shoots fast.
Tested a couple loads yesterday based on the info from Dr. Mike
I stayed below max and got a group with 120gr bullets to read 3148 fps and 3185 fps. I knew TAC would produce some unreal velocities in my savage 110 that seems to always shoot fast.
