    .223 caliber for hunting

Do any of you hunters hunt with the .223? If so, do the deer drop or do they leave a long blood trail when shot in the neck? I have finished buying all of my ingredients for loading the 60gr PT and I bought a Ruger Mini-14 at a gun show this weekend. I have a Colt AR-15 HBAR set up for...

    Bullet dilema for a .30-06

    Bullet dilema for a .30-06

I have a bolt action Savage 110. I have been loading 165 gr. Partions for deer hunting. I love the Partion, but the tip gets mared up on the cup in front of the chamber during chambering. I switched to a Ballistic Tip and the bullet feeds fine. The only problem I have with the Ballistic Tip is...

What is the difference in bullet weights for deer?

I have been shooting a .30 cal. 165 gr. Partion bullet with great success. I see that there are many bullets weights for a .30-06. What makes one bullet weight more effective than the other? Is it range? How do you choose the weight of the bullet?

    What is considered long range?

The Nosler Manual says the .30 caliber 165 gr. Partion is good for ranges out to 225yds. It also mentions the Ballistic Tip should only be used for long range distances. Between what ranges will the Ballastic Tip be effective?
