    Where is Spring!

Only 8 inches - 18- 20 in SE Mn. Of course the wind and cold are next. My mistake, the girls tournaments were this week- boys are next week. Wonder if we'll get another dose. CL

    Where is Spring!

12-15 inches of "Spring" forecast here in the next 48 hours. Its time for boys state B-ball tournaments here. That's about average most years. That -5 below temp forecast for Tuesday night is gonna suck though. CL

    25 Pronghorn

Sorry- you said all that earlier in this thread. Ugh- I hate chasing the variables- If it was me doing the shooting, I would blame it on "operator error". If you are confident in your replacement scope, then maybe its a powder/ load issue although it dosen sound like that. I recall at one...

    25 Pronghorn

Boy- from what Ive been told and seen it takes a lot to burn out a barrel. You've had two shots touching and then these big spreads. Sounds like heating up or cabon fouling or a bedding issue. is this pattern repeatable (two shots close and then opening up)? Hate to say it, or a scope? CL

    Lever action rifles

Couple things additional- Brass "shell counters" are nice if you are a collector but Ive never heard of anybody having trouble with the other metal ones whatever they are made of. Also a good old Glenfield would work great and wouldn't break the bank. For what they get for 94 any more, you can...

    Lever action rifles

Dosent surpise me that the 99 you tried seemed to "fit you". They were popular because of that. What you descibe is the perfect "walking around rifle". The 99 is it. Cool to find a "newer one" in 308. That makes it potentially so versitaile. My friends below is an old take down model...

No dominant eye- anybody else have this experience?

Was talking with a "new pistol shooter recently who related that she was not able to identify a dominant eye. She shoots pistol with both eyes open and was concerned that her sight picture wasn't staying consistent. I started her shooting rifle years ago and had her shoot "left eye" because she...

Nosler vs Hodgdon load data, WAY different

Dads old Speer Manual (cica 1964) shows shows 35 Gr of 4064 as middle of the road. I dont remember what it listed as max and I'm too lazy to dig it out- but Dr Mike ran a quick load for me a couple years ago and I believe it listed 33 Gr of the same powder as MAX for my 250 Savage. I ran that...

So We Think We Are Pretty Good Shots, watch the Olympic Alpine Biathlon

Tried to do some work with a cross country "Pulk Ski" way back in college. Believe it or not did some winter camping too. Just didnt come together- and I was to busy playing ball back then. Always thought a Pulk sled and a rifle would have made a fun combination to hunt coyotes. Sort of a...

    Red Shouldered Hawk

Beautiful shot. Very similar to a Cooper. Really like those "smaller" raptors. We even get them occ. in the big city here in MN. Always hope they can work on the rabbit population, but I expect thats a bit big for a cooper. Kinda comical watching a red tail try and launch from a lilac bush...

    H380 in a 250-300 Savage - any experience?

Thanks- I appreciate the confirmation and positive word. Yup, as Ive noted here ad-neasuam, its a sentimental and very useful favorite, with more cool factor than the venerable 30-30. :)I have been able to get reasonable accuracy in my friends 99 (also a 1:14) with 39.5 gr of IMR 4350...

    H380 in a 250-300 Savage - any experience?

Thanks Chaser- I am hopeful. Also hopeful (but not optomistic) that it will warm up enough so I can reload before April. Yet another reason for me to get out of Commysota. CL

    The Last of Their Generation

My Sympathies sir, for your loss. Indeed the "greatest generation" is a much deserved recognition. I would suggest though, that only time will tell if they are the last. There a many today living quiet, largely unrecognized lives who have also served there country and community. We were...

    H380 in a 250-300 Savage - any experience?

BTW- I asume you are still running your 250 Savage (AI)? Whats working for you. H4350 seemed to have fewer load options listed for the 250. That and $10 less a pound made me take a chance. Maybe I made a mistke? CL
