a buddy of mine got a SPS last year in 7mm rem and turned out to be a real shooter. did up a handload with 160's and retumbo which produced groups hovering near 1/2"...not bad for a bone stock rifle.

I used 52.0 gr of IMR4350, norma brass, CCI200 primer and a 120BT...very accurate. with that being said though, i had terrible bullet failure on a mule deer...high shoulder shot at 225 yards...bullet blew up on the surface but broke the shoulder...the next shot in the lungs and he...

i have a 257 bob in a ruger #1 and love it...shoots great and is my wife's deer rifle. shoots great for a stock rifle and a #1 to boot...consistently well below MOA. my handload of choice is a 117 sierra spbt over a healthy charge of H414.

Thanks for the reply...unfortunately being up here in Greenland i don't have access to one of those programs. I'm with you on Retumbo looking like a good powder for both the 270/257 Wby. I use it in my 7mm STW pushing a 160 accubond and it is a total deathray.
I would assume that you...
Has anyone tried retumbo with a 120 gr bullet? Where would i start at with the powder and what would the max be?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
