    Africa

Hi guys, The 7mm Mag loads I developed for my friend for his African hunt performed flawlessly. He took 5 head of horned game including a blue wildebeest & I am thrilled. I haven't seen the video yet but he still hasn't "come down"! I have a question for you folks, can anyone tell me where you...

    Questions: 168 LR AB

I need some help. I am very interested in shooting the 168 LR AB bullet out of my 7mm RUM, but I have some questions before I start loading them. Would a 1:9 twist be O.K. for this bullet? Velocities will likely run in the 3200 ft./sec. range. Barrel is stainless 27 3/4 in. on a Ruger No.1 What...

    Accubond or Partition

I need your advise &/or experience. A friend is going to Africa to hunt horned game eg., impala, gemsbok, perhaps oryx. I am helping him to put a load together for his 7mm Rem. Mag. We are going to use H1000 and 160 Accubond or Partition. Personally, I have used them both & have stayed with the...

    Trigger for Ruger #1

The trigger on my Ruger#1 broke while my gunsmith was working on it. :( Unfortunately I can't import a trigger from the U.S. into Canada. Does anyone (Dr. Mike) know where I might find a new or after market trigger for my Ruger #1 in Canada? Any help much appreciated. :)

    Pop, Quickload Please

Pop, I don't know if anyone has asked but could you do the 7mm RUM. I like this cartridge very much & have used it for the last 5 years or so & have done well with it. BH209

A few days ago I went to the range to finally give my T/C Encore a workout. I ran out of time last fall as it arrived a little late. I used 100 gr. BH209, Fed. 209A primers & Precision Rifle Dead Centre bullets ranging in weight from 195 gr. to 300 gr. I fired one round before starting my...

    Different Lots of Brass

When loading for hunting using Rem. brass (or whatever make you use), does mixing the lots within the brand make that much of a difference?

    Breech Plug Primer Crud

I use Fed. 209A primers in my Encore to light up BH209. What do you guys use to get that brick hard primer crud out of the fire hole? :?

    New Brass Case Length

Since I royally screwed up this question yesterday  , with your indulgance, I will ask it again. I have 50 new (Rem.) 7mm RUM cases to load. I ran them through the RCBS resize die. My Lyman Manual (& others) say my "Trim To" length is 2.840". Some of the cases trimmed to this length while...

    New Brass Length

Loading manuals indicate the max length for 7mm RUM brass should be 2.840". I always run new brass (Rem. of course) through my sizer die & check the length. I find that some are shorter than 2.840" & could be anything from 2.837" on up. Is this a problem & can it affect accuracy :?:

    BH209

Anybody tried Blackhorn 209 while hunting this year :?: I have. It is everything they claim it to be :!: 2 weeks before hunting season I sighted in my T/C encore using 90 gr. BH209, Fed. 209A shotgun primers and Precision Rifle 260 gr. Dead Centre bullets. Unfortunately, I got the stuff too...

    Using different lots of brass

Say I have 3 different lots of brass, same brand & same calibre of course, & once fired. I resize & trim all to exact same length, flash hole has been chamfered inside all cases. If I weigh them all & divide them into 2 weight lots, provided there is no tremendeous difference in weight within...

    Oops!

This year I was hoping to get a long shot at a whitetail with my 7mm RUM. I use 160 Nosler AB & finally got the chance yesterday. I was hunting with my brother-in-law to help him fill his antlerless tag. We were on a long narrow firebreak & this little guy came out at 348 yards (rangefinder)...

    What??!!!

A gentleman who interupts his fishing to bag two deer in the muzzleloader season as quickly as he can so that he can get back to his fishing, explained the other day that the reason deer wander out of the bush onto the fields in the evening when still light is so that they won't bump into the...
