It's not just me then. Well, the best group could be covered up with a dime and measured 0.162. One big ragged hole and 3 other 3 shot groups under 0.70 so it likes this powder and bullet.
Update: Went to range today to fine tune my initial 12 shot ladder test with Vit N560. I think I have found the one my Tikka likes. Average velocity was 3304 with no pressure signs. This will be by deer load for this fall.
Love my 270 WSM. Worked up a good load with 150g Hornady InterBonds for cow elk and thought I should try for a good 140G thin skinned load. Used Vit N560 and did a 12 shot ladder test and the whole group size was 1.326 with an average velocity of 3215fps. Next step is a few 3 shot groups to...
Finally got back to the range today with the 150G Interbonds. I worked on some 3 shot groups based on ladder test with Hunter and IMR 4831. I think I have a winner with this load of IMR 4831. Velocity was 3034 with no pressure signs. It was 50 degrees and a light breeze. I will play with...
Joe,
With IMR 4831, I started with 60G and ending around 63. That was around 62,400 PSI. I wanted to stay a fair amount under SAMMI of 65000PSI. I maybe could have pushed it harder but I got the velocities I was looking for and so far, the accuracy looks very promising.
Went to the range today and did 2 ladder test with a combination of GRT and Quickload for my Tikka 270 WSM and Hornady 150 G InterBonds. Very happy with the initial results and velocities. On the Hunter, shots 8,9,10 were really close with those 3 average velocity of 3036. Next up with IMR...
I just purchased a very nice used Tikka T3 in 300 WSM to go along with my Browning XBolt in 300WSM. My question is this: My Browning XBolt likes a jump of .1287 with Federal 175G TA's. What would your starting jump be for the Tikka? I was thinking .005 but anyone with a Tikka T3 in 300WSM...
Thanks for the replies. Over the past few years I've been able to buy Match primers over standard primers. It just seems most of the reloading manuals use regular and not match primers (maybe because they only had regular primers). What I normally do is to work up a load with each type and...
I have a question and would like some comments on: What are the main differences between Fed 215 and Fed 215Match and Fed 210 and Fed 210 Match primers? Do the match primers burn hotter or just made to a tighter tolerance? I guess I would ask the same for CCI 200 vs BR200. The reason I'm...
Thanks for the replies. I won't get to try and changes for a couple of weeks and maybe it will be warmer than 15 degrees next time I shoot at the range!!
