I’m scratching my head as to why you would do load work up in the heat but expect accuracy in the cold.
It seems to be a better plan to do load work in moderate spring and autumn temps on the shoulders of hunting season. ?
Working towards a new rifle in 30 Nosler. I’ve got the powders, brass, primers, bullets and dies-now I need the rifle!
I have a 7stw I could convert I think, when I have the money saved I will get more serious about it. Hope it’s this year tho-
Oryx could also be New Mexico. In your shoes I would just stay with the 180 ttsx or Accubond in the 300. 180 accubond is my favorite load for that caliber.
The .308 i would use the 165 accubond, I like the velocity better and prefer its performance over the BT. Just me tho-
I bought a new 250 when I graduated paramedic school 20 years ago. The computer system died while I was pulling my trailer to my elk hunting spot.
Long story short it took over three months to fix it. I had multiple numbers for the western regional manager and her “boss.” It was the worst...
Really love my 28. I often use factory 175 ablr but I have worked up my own load which is a bit faster. Longest shots I have taken have been in the mid 400’s and the performance has been excellent. Probably my favorite rifle right now-
I can shoot very accurately to 750 yards, I struggle...
Most states going to an on line system now-even allowing digital federal duck stamp. Don’t know if Arizona got that far yet but it was super convenient in other states I hunted-our Brittany went completely deaf this year and was retired from the field in November.
Just for the fun of it, check out Von Gruff knives in New Zealand.
Anymore I carry two knives but lots of blades- a stout fixed blade belt knife and a
havalon with replacement blades. But then I’m not on a cattle ranch :)
It was 65 in utah yesterday so Arizona must be close to perfect. Would sure love to be in southern Arizona chasing quail . . .
Best wishes to you and your family-
235 gr TSX with expected flawless performance. Mine is a .375 wby but shouldn’t make much difference for the purpose of this thread-except I won’t post my “recipe.” The powder used is rl-15
I forgot I had taken this combo more than once-one shot effective on eland down to duiker-the velocity I...
I’ve done load work ups for two .270 rifles in the past two years. One ended up shooting the Speer grand slam 130 using 7828 ssc, F/C brass. That was a mossberg rifle.
The other was a custom rifle and we ended up using H4831 sc and the nosler 130 accubond, also F/C brass. I would

I’m not a pt fan but I have never had issues getting them to group acceptably. Old rifles really loved those short heavy lead tipped bullets!
I’m in agreement with the above-try the Accubond and see what you can do with that one or one of the other options. I’ve gone to the ablr in several...
Same bullet I use in my rem 700 and it will be just fine for elk. I found rl-17 to Be the best for me and seating depth was very important.
7mm-08 150 grain on the left after taking down the kudu bull-
Most African game is better than we have on this half of the globe. It is typically lean and in general cooked over an actual fire, so the flavors aren’t polluted by gas or briquettes.
I would take eland over anything else.
