    270 WSM and 140 Accubonds

Pop, My Savage .270 WSM loves 140 Accubonds and 70.0 gr of Magpro powder. I use Win brass with the flash holes cleaned (nasty burrs on Win brass), and Federal 215 primers. My particular rifle likes the Accubonds seated .060"-.070" off the rifling. This combination is giving me .25-.50 MOA...

    Ballistic Tips on Elk?

That load kills like the "Hammer of Thor" in my .338 !! First load I ever worked up for my .338, and only one I'll ever use. I get 3050 fps from my 26" barrel.

    Zero change from 1000' to 6000' ????

I just finalized my zero on friday for my upcoming pronghorn hunt.My Burris w/Ballistic Plex reticle is dead on at 200 yards. I then verified the 300 yard line and was -1", which was as stated by Burris. So far so good. Then I got to thinking about the first time I took my .338 Mag on an elk hunt...

    Have you experienced?

My .270 WSM did not like to have the Accubonds seated close to the rifling!! I had to back them .060" of the lands using a Stoney Point tool before the grouping tightened up. I'm getting .25-.50 MOA with them .070" off the rifling.

need info and load data for the 270 WSM

I use 70 gr Magpro powder, 140 gr Accubond, Fed 215 primer and Winchester brass that has had the flash hole deburred. My Savage shoots this load into .25-.50 MOA at 3150 fps. This particular rifle likes a COAL of 2.830 with this bullet. I shot this group tuesday.

Inconsistencies with .277 140 Accubonds when seating

I'm hoping NOSLER responds to this. I was doing some reloads today and noticed what may be a problem. After determining what COAL I was going to use, I set my seating die, and proceeded to load some rounds. I was looking for a COAL of 2.830". I loaded some up and then proceeded to check them...

    Is 3150 fps too much for a .270 140 B-Tip ??

I'll be going on an antelope hunt in Oct and was wondering if 3150 fps is too much for a Ballistic tip?? I used to use this with great success in my .270 Win, but that was only at 2850 fps. My new .270 WSM gets 3150 or better with the Accubonds, but I'm thinking of going to a B-Tip since I'm...

    WHAT ACCUBOND SHOULD BE NEXT?

I personally would like to see a 210 gr .338 Accubond to compliment the 210 Partitions that I normally use.

    270 WSM Powders

RL 19 works well with the caliber, but my powder of choice is Magpro.. Of course I only use 140 gr Accubonds, so Magpro is the appropriate powder for me.

    Nosler's Competition

I think Barnes is Nosler's closest competition. Sierra doesn't make premium bullets. They do make good, accurate bullets that work for most game. I've always been a Partition guy until the new Accubonds came out. I haven't tried any Barnes TSX, nor do I plan to in the immediate future since I'm...

Federal Primers and Lee Auto Prime?

I've had the same Lee Auto Prime since the 70's and have almost exclusively used Federal Primers. I use mine for my .300 RUM and .270 WSM(same shell holder). I did have to take the Dremel tool to it to get the fit I needed.

    180 Accubond at 820 yards!!

I just ran across this at another forum and thought others might be interested. It looks like the Accubond performs, even at extended ranges!! http://longrangehunting.com/ubbthreads/ ... ge=0#60773

    338 - 210 vs. 225 Partition

The 210 Partition kills elk like magic in a .338!!! It is the first and only bullet I ever tried to load. My first load with the 210 Partition shot Under .75 MOA from my A-Bolt and chronos out at 3050 fps. I've shot some huge bodied elk with it and it literally slams them to the ground. It...

    165 BT For Deer?

I've used Ballistic tips for years. Always had 1 shot kills. You don't need a premium bullet to kill deer sized animals. Shot placement , as always, is important. B-tips are not meant for shooting through shoulders or for use in ultra high velocity situations. That being said, I've spine shot...

    What is the basic cartridge?

The parent brass is .404 Jeffrey, I believe. I know for certain that's what my .300 RUM came from and I use the same shellholders for both calibers.

    7mm Ultra Mag Load data

Word is that Remington is dropping this caliber. I'm sure Nosler didn't want to come out and say that when he commented. In reality, it won't do anything a 7 STW won't do. MY .300 RUM will push a 150 or 165 gr over 3400 fps if that's what you're after. With a .300 RUM, you can also shoot the...

    Bullet selection for 270WSM

I would definitely go with the 140 Accubonds and Magpro powder. In my Savage, 70 gr of Magpro, Fer 215 primers and 140 Accubonds give me .250-.300 MOA at 100 yards and also 3200 fps. Plenty of wallop for long shots and supreme accuracy.

    Reloading Data Questions

The reason you're not seeing much data on those powders is because they don't work well with that weight bullet in the WSM. H414 is about the only one that "might" work, but there are way better powders. I use Magpro with a 140 Accubond and get groups from .260-.300 " MOA at 3200 fps. You...

    338 cal 180 gr Accubonds

I also think that a 200 gr Accubond would be the ultimate projectile for deer size game in the .338bore. We don't need a 210 because we already have the Partition in that weight, which I now use exclusively. However, since I have such an accurate load for my .270 WSM using Accubonds, I would...
