    8mm 8 X 57 Reloading

49gr IMR 4064 should generate about 60,000psi @ 2800fps with the 180gr Nosler BT @ 3.150" COL Is this over SAAMI specs? You bet. But how many .270 Wins built on M98 actions are used with factory (SAAMI spec) ammo @ over 62,000psi? European ammo is loaded to pressures similar to the 49gr 4064 load.

    280 is excellent

Another vote for the 280. Ballistic twin of the 270 with lighter bullets, more versatility due to wider bullet choices. Most factory loads are under loaded for potential use in older M742 semi autos. Load 'er up to 270 pressure and it is right on the heals of the 7 Mag with shorter barrel...

    Feedback on Savage Rifles

I find it odd that you are having trouble finding rifles chambered in 7mm-08. It has become one of the more popular chamberings here in Northern NY. IMO It is probably the ideal cartridge for medium game when one wants something that will get the job done without excess recoil etc. It is...

    325 WSM

Laugh if you want, but the 8mm has always been superior to .308 for delivering maximum energy in medium capacity cases. A prime example would be the 8x57. When loaded to similar pressure, it will equal the 30-06 in a smaller case. 8x57 factory loads from Europe deliver 2740fps with a 198gr...

    325 WSM

I am trying to make up my mind between a Kimber 8400 or a M70 Super Grade, either would be in 325WSM. The Super Grade would be a little heavier. That might not be a bad thing. I don't particularly care for the gloss bluing on the Winchester, but you can't have everything I guess. I do like...

    325 WSM

Anyone that has ever necked up a 30-06 to 8mm and loaded it to 60k with a O.A.L. of 3.34" or longer would probably not be making such a statement. 8mm seems to be the ideal bore diameter for medium sized cases when it comes to driving 180-220gr. bullets with good BC @ decent velocity...

    8mm [.323] 180 grain Ballistic Tip.

The 180gr 8mm BT is great for deer, You can drive it @ 2800fps from an 8x57 if you load it to 60k.

    7mm 08 140 Accubond trying to get to 2900fps

I get 2935fps with 139gr SSTs using Vv N550 in a M700 Mountain Rifle with a 22" tube. I am going to switch back to Nosler 140s. I switched to the SSTs because of price, but do not get the accuracy of Ballistic Tips. I am using 46.5grs of Vv N550, this is warm so you better back off to about...

    8mm [.323] 180 grain Ballistic Tip.

I have used the 8mm 180gr BT with great results when driven to 2960fps from an 8mm-06 Ackley Improved. Impacts from 50 to 240yds gave similar terminal performance.

    325 Winchster aka 8mm WSM

Actualy the 8mm has a larger selection of bullet weights, 125gr to 250grs, with a brass solid in the later.

    Accubond question for Nosler

I had almost identical performance to that pictured on a very large (220# dressed) Northwern New York Whitetail buck. Mv was 3133fps from 280 Rem, 140gr Accubond, Impacted just behind the left shoulder right above the (lower) knuckle. No bone encountered other than ribs. The entry wound into...

    8mm 180 grain Balistic Tips

I have had my best results with IMR 4064 also, although I am loading a bit "warmer" than 43grs. I have gotten 2800fps with 49grs IMR 4064 from a sound K98. Brass formed from once fired "06" GI brass, CCI primer, 180gr BT O.A.L. of 3.150" "Quickload" estimates the pressure of this load to be...
