I have used a few bullets in a couple different 6.5's and the 147 ELD has worked really well on deer. Lots of great options, but I tend to use that bullet lately since it is available is usually very accurate as well. At 6.5 CM speeds it works really well.
Very cool Fotis. I have a Ruger 77/22 22 Hornet I had rechambered to 22 K-Hornet. So far this thing rips. I’ve been using H110 and the 35 V-Maxs in mine. It’s such a fun little rifle.
The old man worked with them a bit in his Kimber, the problem is you need to seat them so short in order to get out of the chamber I think it kinda limits them a bit. A 700 is probably a better match, or maybe a 150 ABLR. I think he kinda settled on the 160 AB for the majority of his hunting...
Ha! For sure Jim. If I can get the load tweaked decent I won't be shooting many of them up.
I'll get the old 70 shaped up Mike.. Just a bit more time..
Love em. We took 3 elk this past season with my 7 Mashburn Super from 490 to 605. The 175 ABLR is a crusher of a bullet. I can't say much else about it, it penetrates like a regular AB and expands like an ELD. Can't ask for more. If they shoot in your rifle, they'll put smiles on your face.
I took it out to 300 and gave them a whirl..
I'll throw a plug in for the Garmin, it is so easy to use, I don't mind just chucking it up next to the rifle since it requires nothing but setting it there and turning it on.
Anyhow, I shot the first 3. Everything looked good, that load...
Shot the 200 grain Noslers at 100
Not sure if it was me or the load, or maybe a combo, but it was good enough to try it at 400 yards. It was about 50 FPS on average slower than the Sierra's, but I wanted to see what they would do so I moved the mobile bench out..
I shot 3 of the Sierras...
I think I have finally found about the best load I can get with the 200 SGK's in my old 300. Took my best load of 71 grains of H4831SC and seated them at 3.530".
While not head shooting squirrel accurate, still within the margins for elk..
I was getting too big for my britches when...
