Hell, I (and countless others) would be happy if the 300 RUM brass that was supposed to be available many months ago got here before my hair turned gray and fell out. Screw you 338 users...you'll just have to rechamber to Edge.
The fact that I haven't missed nor even needed a "finisher" in over 15 years should tell you my style of hunting is not exactly "risky behavior."
I got absolutely no gratification shooting that last buck at 40-something yards who had no idea I was even in the county. Tell me, do you get more...
But when somebody blasts away at a deer running through the brush at less than 100 yds it's not "chancy" at all, eh? Have you ever shot at a running animal? Do you condemn those who do the same way? Or are you and do you think the average guy who does it is so good that a running shot isn't...
Nosler employees, is it true that Winchester makes the brass for you? I haven't heard this first hand but that's what everybody's saying. I'd probably still buy some but I'd like to know one way or the other.
So who all has tried the Nosler brass so far? How are you finding it to be quality-wise (consistency, toughness, etc) compared to Lapua, Norma, Federal, etc.
Roysclockgun, I've been conversing with Remingtonman_25_06 on other boards for quite some time and have absolutely no reason to doubt what he says. It's easier to believe when you actually practice and become good at those ranges yourself. Maybe you should try it.
The "great skill" beyond all...
Excellent bullet performance! One of the things I like about the AccuBond is how quickly/easily it will open up. That's a great example showing you aren't likely to ever have to worry about an AccuBond not opening due to low impact velocity.
I agree, somethin's screwy. Maybe when testing the 8mm you guys broke off the plastic tips or something. :P There's no way the 338 180 should have basically the same BC as the 8mm 200 unless the 8mm was a flat point or something. I'm sure somebody made a simple mistake somewhere and...
I hunted with a Vari-X III 3.5-10 X 50mm (old style) for over 10 years and had nothing but love for that scope. I just sold it to buy a 4.5-14 (wanted more magnification for target shooting beyond 600 yds) and I have a feeling I'll end up regretting it. I really liked that scope....
Can't...
If I still had a 300 Win Mag I'd load the 200 AccuBond to about 3000 fps. Since I no longer have a 300 Win Mag, I load the 200 AccuBond to 3170.
Haven't gotten an elk with that load yet  but hopefully that'll change next year. I like that bullet.
Waiting for broadside lungshots is the solution--staying away from the shoulders. No bullet will hit the shoulders without wasting some meat.
But using heavier weight bullets will also help. If Partitions are causing that much damage it sounds like you're using lighter ones at relatively high...
I would say no, that is not true. My testing has shown the AccuBond gives amazingly consistant results over a huge range of velocities (it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between one fired in medium at really high velocity and one fired at a much lower velocity). I doubt you'll ever...
