FWIW, the xcr also has the rubber overmolded stock. They're nice rifles but don't look for the XCR to out shoot any other 700. All of mine shoot pretty well. I had a model 16 Savage .243 that would put five shots in one ragged hole so if you want economy...
Gentlemen of the jury, there you have it. He's been shooting into wet newspaper all his life. What a coincedence. If you've been following all of the connected threads you'll see the inconsistencies.
Remboy, you have just made it impossible to believe any description you have offered about the...
Did you shoot all of these today?!?!? You got some serious time in today setting up wet newspaper for 28 shots out of 8 different guns using 22 different bullets.
Yeah, me too!
You jumped me RemMan. I was just relaying my experience to the poster. I had not written anything to you or about you. You called me out and that's the way it is. I had no idea you were 20 until you announced it. Quite frankly I don't care as long as you're not calling me a liar...
Wow, now I'm a liar! I am a fan of BT's, so what reason would I have to lie trying to discredit it? I wouldn't use the 165's for deer size game though. That's my experience with them, like it or not. I was doing a side by side comparison with 168 gr Sierra Matchkings at the time. The Sierra's...
When I was a kid, I fired 165 gr. BT's from a 30-06 into wet newspaper. It penetrated about an inch and a half and exploded. The biggest piece I found out of 3 rounds was 27 gr. I decided they weren't for deer hunting 15years ago.
I went into my local gun store(Moe Hardware in Black River Falls, WI cheaper than WalMart btw) today and traded my Contender for an Encore SS Lam. M/L. I stood there like an idiot picking up the Savage M/L II and then the Encore and back and forth... Finally I decided the advantage of changing...
Has anyone had any dealings with the Armalite AR-10 in .243? I like the AR platform and love the round but I'm wondering if they pulled it off. I was just wondering about function and accuracy. Do they make an A2 version of this?
Good Lord! Twenty eight days "cooling off" to buy a high end bolt action rifle. That makes sense because I know here in the states the weapon of choice for gangsters is a Sako 75 Deluxe. If only our politicians were as progressive as yours .
I know it's not what you're looking for, but my 270 BAR has almost no kick. I'm sure that the recoil would be tolerable in just about any caliber it is chambered in. Follow up shots are not a problem either. Just a thought.
Rich
Would you rather have a STS Vanguard or T3? I have a Tikka 695 in 300 Mag. and love it, but I've never shot a Weatherby. The Vanguard is guaranteed to shoot 1.5" groups but I can do that sometimes with a Mossberg 12 ga. Your opinions are appreciated.
I went into Gander Mountain today to buy a Savage M/L. They didn't have any so I got quickly distracted by a Tikka in 243 WSSM. I heard some good things about it but haven't looked at them too close. I was curious about it so I walked over to the ammo shelf and took a look at the round. WOW...
Well, I looked the gun over and the barrel bulges to about the same size at the muzzle as it is at the receiver. I was told it reduces the harmonics without adding a lot of weight. The troubling part was inside the barrel. I asked when the last time he cleaned it was. He said, "I dunno, I think...
