i have messed around a lot with different boolits in my t/c renegade and the best I have found so far is 80gr pyrodex and 370gr maxiball. I have tried the 275 and 350 maxi hunters but didn't do as well. would also tell you that my groups tightened a lot by using a wad on top of the charge.
I have 3 points and still have not drawn, I will be trapping for the most part but I do have 2 loads worked up just in case. ruger no.1 29'' barrel 30-378 165 bt 110.0 retumbo
browning a-bolt 243 70bt and rl-22 (y)
i have a 30-378 built on a ruger no.1, mine maxes with 108 and the 180's. I had pressure issues as well and the problem is retumbo. it spikes something terrible.
honestly, if my 06 couldn't do it where we hunt I would skip the other 30's and go to .338. and that's from someone with a m77 30-06 , ruger no.1 300win, ruger no.1 300 ultra and ruger no.1 30-378. :P
anybody have one?? any loads?? was going to build a 25 stw but i have been looking into one of these instead. I have a ton of 243 brass and a shot out A-bolt.
nope,I run them at 3300 with rl-22 out of my m77 varmint and never had a problem on deer. i like'm better than the 115's. and for smaller stuff i use th 85bt.
Got a like new win 63 today that my grandpa bought in the 40's. took it out and put 30-40 rounds through it. It's a cool old gun that looks like new yet.
got a deal on another #1b and i think this time round i am going to send one to pacnor to become a 25stw with 30'' tube. anybody have anything done by pacnor?
anybody know what a starting point would be for rl33 and a 190 or 210 accubond? i hope that maybe rl33 would give me the same or better velocity as retumbo without the pressure spike surprises. :?
Didn't recover bullet but 1'' in and exit was little smaller than baseball size. Shot was uphill a little so it came out high and caught bottom of spine.
Its a caliber I always wanted but never offered in a rifle I liked. So I had my favorite rifle re-barrelled. A ruger #1. I love it even though its a tank to carry all day but it is a labor of love.
Finally got cold to get them moving a little again after gun and muzzleloader season. He was a few min behind a couple does that came by. 18 in 10 point. Don't know score but is probably close to 150.
150 yards accross on a hardwood ridge walking away. Area is public and gets pounded during firearm season. It is a special spot to me and I always try to get back there a couple times a year. My grandfather used to lease it back in the early 50's, now it is owned by the state.this was my fathers...
