Partitions and whitetails..give me your feedback

Here in NJ, Mr. Smitty we also enjoy liberal hunting season lengths and bag limits becuase of the heavy deer to land ratio and also deer/auto collisions. The NJ auto insurance agencies lobby the feds to expand on the bag limits because our deer/auto accicdents are unbelievably high and they...

Need your best 40 grain 22-250AI Bal Tip Load!!!

Gents... I just received my 22-250 AI back from the gunsmith after a re-chambering to the improved version, a 2.5 lb trigger job, a re-crowned barrel, bolt face truing, lapping etc... The rifle is a Remington 700 22-250 VS 26" bbl. I've looked up many reloading recipes on the web and most seem...

    Custom rifle questions

Dubyam-- I have one custom and one redo on a factory remington. I have found Kevin Weaver of Weaver Rifles Inc., in Peyton Colorado to be an excellent communicator, takes the time to ask and evaluate the questions, answers and needs of the shooter/hunter. His work is outstanding and his prices...

    300 wsm

I have a Winchester 70 Classic SS in .300 WSM and truly like this rifle/cartridge combo. I will be upfront and say that I had a gunsmith do a trigger job on it becuase the factory one was lousy and I had the crown recut to 11 degrees. The rifle likes 165 and 180 grain pills and reloader 22 is my...

    2006-07 Hunting pics

Yes Jeff, it is... I've been hunting with the BLR .358 Win since 1990 and love this rifle/cartridge combo to death. I own several other rifles and only take them out for an occassional walk on hunts unless I'm on a guided hunt where long shots are the norm. The .358 is accurate and really...

    300 Win Shrt Mag.

I have one in a Win 70 SS Classic and love it. Not heavy, very accurate( although I had to have a trigger job done as the one from the factory was lousy!) Shoots 165gr Bal Tips at MOA with reloader 22 and 180 grainers are at an inch. Comes up quickly and points well. I have a Leupold VXIII...

    Elk and cotton mouth?

OK Guys, since I work in the medical profession and have learned this physioilogical reaction many years ago in college, I'll give a brief explanation as to what's happening in your bodies: Your brain is a very powerful computer that communicates with your body faster than one can imagine. Your...

    Barnes TSX FAILURES.

Jeff, The .358 Win is my got o gun, hence the web name. I've been hunting with it since 1990. I have killed deer, boar and black bear with it and none of them have gone more than 20 yds. Most dropped where they stood. The .358 hits very hard and is very accurate. I tried the 200 grainers in it...

    338win

Jeff, You're absolutely right about the 250 grainer being the "knockout king" in the .338WM. It's been the go to bullet for large and or dangerous game for decades. When I looked at it vs. the 225gr, I was impressed to find better BC in the 225 and although not equal, the energy in the 225 is...

    338win

Glad to hear you had such success with the 225's. I've been doing alot of reading on the 338WM and the 225gr bullet. Seems that the 225 is the mainstay or bullet of choice when accuracy with energy is reviewed. The ballistsic coefficient is better on the 225 then the 200 or 210. Seems like the...

    Elk rifle

Matt, I can appreciate your honesty. I don't doubt for a minute that there are guys like you and Brad who have the practice down to a science and then apply it to your given hunting scenario. Most guys here in the east would not know what to do with a 300 yard shot. I practiced my butt off to...

    Elk rifle

Guys, I'm not trying to create an arguement for right or wrong with my statement. My point is that those of you who practice regularly at 600 yds or more with the very best of technical equipment to assist you in your shooting are doing so under relaxed conditions with time on your side. The...

    223 WSSM , 22-250 or 220 swift?

.22-250 AI. Fun to load and shoot. Equals the Swift with less powder. Can shoot factory out of it in a pinch with excellent accuracy. Not all stores carry .220 Swift ammo, but usually you can find .22-250 on the shelf!
