I saw a video where they updated the M7 to shorter barrel as part of feedback from soldier field test to lighten rifle. Said the military was toying with idea of increasing the pressure to 100k to offset velocity loss on 6.8x51 (277 Sig Fury) in shorter barrel. Cool stuff they are doing...
Already bought a S&W Sheild X, but for rifles plan on one of the new Savage Core Hunter Pros in 6.8 Western. I am not an AR guy, but plan on getting one in 26. Something fun to shoot with son vs all my hunting rifles

Go with 243. What I started my kids with. Used Hornady reduced recoil ammo and worked great on deer. I think it was and 85ish gr sst around 2800 fps. Any case worked fine and eventually stepped up to full lower 100gr loads and other cartridges. The more powerful loads worked better on pigs...
I prefer the Whelen for the option to shoot 200-225 bullets. Have a 700 classic 35 Whelen and love it. Dumped a big bull Nilgai couple years ago. Had a cz550 9.3x62 but it was a boat anchor in comparison to the 700 classic/35 Whelen so sold
It. If hunt dangerous game in Africa the edge is...
These are probably over-run for sig factory ammo. They did or at least used to load sierra tipped game king with a black coating. Similar to lubalox I guess where does not change terminal performance

I am all for innovation and have thought about a 277 sig fury. I am not sure about this Federal version yet. I certainly wouldn’t buy one until saami certified and bugs worked out. Both Sig and True velocity have their 80k 6.8 rounds saami certified so that is not new so what is holding up...
My son taken a couple bucks so far with 170 btip in 1-8 270 WSM loaded to 2850. Could go faster but super accurate and like the OP showed great performance. Good expansion/damage with good sized exits

I am with Gerry
6.8 Western ammo/brass
277 170 Accubond
A 165-175 277 btip long range if a new line in the works. Whatever weight gives highest BC in 1-8 twist
The 165 ablr factory ammo shot great out of my 6.8W however my handloads meh. I noticed what looked like a dimple on the ogive. After some search found that you can buy a seating stem for the ablr and below on Nosler FAQ. I bought one of the 165 ablr seating stems and will eventually see if...
I haven’t had any issues with recent 6.8W and 270 wsm brass. However on 6.8w FB page have seen some complaining. Any case, Have seen no new Win brass except 6.8W in a while so they can probably sell everything they make in factory ammo and only make 6.8W since it is their recent intro

In my kimber classic select rl16 got 3200 fps with 130 partitions. It is spot on the published Alliant load data. Modern powders make the old girl sing

I have had a couple of pounds of imr 7828 forever. Never tried it until this past weekend (bought it for 300 wby I sold before loading) with 150 gr ablr in old 270 win. 3 shots well under moa at 2900 fps out of 22” barrel (using Nosler load data). .591 BC with this bullet. Who needs a...
Accurate Magpro and Ramshot Magnum will get 3100 fps with 150 partitions in 270 WSM with 24” barrel. Ramshot has load data and it has been spot on for me in 2 different 270 WSMs. Winchester Staball HD and Ramshot Grand should as well though not tried them yet

Looks like ADG is starting to work 6.8W / 270 wsm brass. I saw in shot show podcast that Nosler is looking at 6.8 Western and 300 prc next. Hope that pans out too! I posted this on FB group:
Hey folks, this dealer is looking to start taking orders for initial runs ADG Cartridge Brass. I...
I think the main issue is the manufacturers could probably just make nothing but 9mm and 223 and use all their resources year round and sell everything they can make. Tacticool rounds like 308 have crossover appeal with hunting so next on list. Purely hunting rounds are getting pushed to...
Hornady did say they were discontinuing interbonds. In a few of their podcasts they have said they are expensive to manufacture and hard to get to shoot accurately. Focusing on the softer high BC bullets apparently so don’t expect anything new. CX is their tough bullet

277 170 accubond!
That 277 170 btip works great by the way. Super accurate in my 8 twist 270 wsm and son took a nice buck with it this year. Performed great!

I had a Win 70 stainless classic 7 wsm that had bedded in a mcmillan stock rebarrled to 6.8W with 24” hs precision 1-8 barrel. Super accurate and well balanced rifle so I did not want to chop it to run a suppressor and ended up buying a xbolt SR which is also very accurate;). Run a trash...
Have 2 6.8 now. Excellent round. Been hammering pigs with them on my place in TX. Mild recoil, very accurate, and hard hitting. Earth shattering … no but an excellent design from factory. Of the new rounds I like the 6.5 cm and 6.8W the best. Both are very pleasant to shoot for the down...
