270 mimics 7mm Rem Mag with 150 factory!

Have you seen the load data for the .277 85gr e-tip? I’d bet that’s a deer busting son of a gun!

270 mimics 7mm Rem Mag with 150 factory!

Your 270 load sounds pretty stout…plenty to get the job done for sure! 7mag is still a step above though. Figure 140gr at 3250fps, 150gr at 3150fps and 160gr at 3050fps. Reloads vs reloads, I’m pushing 180gr at 3000fps in my 7 mag.

    7mm 175gr Eld-X 18 in 1-8 twist barrel

I’m interested to see the data but because of the 18” barrel, my guess is that it won’t be much better than a 7mm-08.

    Imr 7828

I’ve found 7828ssc to be pretty good. Not worth $50-$60/lb to me personally. Not sure I would pay that price for any IMR powder honestly. Hodgdon does because they can and fortunately for me, I don’t have to pay those prices. Edit: Yes, H1000 was the one for me that made IMR7828 irrelevant...

Henry 243 long ranger load data needed

IMR 7828ssc is another good powder for 95-105gr bullets with the .243, it looks like you have something that will get you started though.

Henry 243 long ranger load data needed

I at least check the headspace on new brass and neck size them. If you plan on full length sizing then yeah you should size new brass.

Henry 243 long ranger load data needed

I’m sure by now that you realize something is seriously wrong. It’s not supposed to be this difficult. As for removing the expander button from the die….that’s pretty common but if you do that, you’re going to have to expand the necks in a separate operation with an expander mandrel. You can’t...

Henry 243 long ranger load data needed

I feel like part of your problem is the turret press but I could be wrong. I’ve only ever used a single stage but I’ve also never had problems like you are experiencing. I’ve never heard of the loctight method you are using and for sure haven’t tried that myself so I can’t say how accurate that...

    Excessive headspace on virgin brass

You know that the headspace gauges don’t even have shoulders on them right? Yes, that allows the shoulder to possibly blow forward until it hits the shoulder in the chamber. The false “neck shoulder” helps and so would fire forming with a bullet lightly jammed into the lands. The guys that full...

300 Win Mag / 200 Accubond test (after neck turning)

OK, yeah…I was mostly wondering what the difference in accuracy was between the turned and unturned Norma.

300 Win Mag / 200 Accubond test (after neck turning)

I’m confused….shocking right? You’re last post, 2nd pic “unturned Norma 76.4 gr 3 shot group” looks exactly like your first post “ I’m confused….shocking right? 300 Win Mag / 200 Accubond test (after neck turning)

Looking good to me! What was the accuracy from the same loads out of unturned Norma brass?

Henry 243 long ranger load data needed

It’s usually a powder that isn’t available to reloaders but it may be pretty close to something available in some cases. I imagine that in some cases it may even be the same as what is available to us but impossible to know for sure. Add a pic if you want, we can guess but don’t take it to the bank…

    Neck Turning

“So do any of you have an experience where changing seating depth, powder, charge weight, bullet type failed to give the accuracy you sought, and neck Turing did?” I guess we just see this question differently? The tight necks on the 300 win mag was causing pressure issues which caused accuracy...

    Neck Turning

Exactly…he had a known, good load with acceptable accuracy for himself. Changed brass and ran into the neck clearance issues evidently. He was not starting from scratch and couldn’t find any load that shot, turned his necks and then bam, magic accuracy. I agree that most people won’t see a...

    Neck Turning

That was with his known/good load though. You don’t just pick some random load out of a manual, neck turn the brass and then your shooting bug holes?

    Neck Turning

I don’t think it works like that. Accuracy is sort of like cooking…if you start with ingredients that you don’t like, they aren’t going to taste good even if they’re perfectly cooked! I’m in for experienced answers to your question though….

    Neck Turning

I do not neck turn and for the most part, have been able to find acceptable accuracy for my needs(1/2moa-1moa…occasionally better). I’ve considered trying neck turned brass to see if it makes a difference…..
