FWIW as an update.
Today I shot 4g of Green Dot under a 122g Hi Tek coated flat point - it printed groups at 50y that I didn’t think I could shoot with open sights. About half an inch for three shots, for three groups. And it was about 38 degrees centigrade so it wasn’t the nicest conditions...
Thanks KW. Appreciate the links.
As it turns out you are right, I REALLY like it. I don’t shoot much with open sights but this is quite accurate (under 3 moa consistently out to 75y) and the fit and finish is just great for the price. Looks the part too.
I’ve been loading 6g of Green Dot...
G’day Gents,
Been a while since I’ve posted but I’m in new territory now.
Just received a new Rossi Puma 357 Magnum with the 16” bbl.
Pistol powders are near impossible to get down here at the moment (have a guess where they are all going 🤣) so in desperation I busted into the vault of Dad’s...
Been playing with this rifle more of late so I thought it was worth an update on a rainy morning (70mm of rain overnight!)...
I’ve found the rifle shoots quite well with about 0.020” of jump. Recently been shooting 90g NBTs for a general purpose hunting load and the 105g BTHP Hornady for long...
Also cobbled together a new load to share with you all this time with the 75g Vmax and H4895.
In truth the aggregate group size should have been lower because I pulled one shot way low on the left hand group. Still, sub 0.5moa in a strong wind over the tailgate of the truck is more than a...
The 87g Vmax I find performs a lot more like a traditional light hunting bullet than a varmint bullet. Though velocity would have been below 2500fps at impact, it entered via the right shoulder and exited via the chest and only left a golf ball sized exit hole...
Knocked over another Reynard just now, this time right on 245 yards. 30kph consistent wind left to right necessitated a bit of hold off. I’d say I got just a little lucky with the wind call as he was facing away and I did not have a lot of latitude for a body shot...
Yep Scotty as you know I shoot the Hdy BTHP in a variety of chamberings and weights. Pretty good on pigs and goats too if you’re sensible!
The fox above was nailed with the 87Vmax. It might just be the better choice out to 350y for predators and so on unless it’s real windy.
G’day Folks,
Been tinkering with a new 6mmBR I had built on an old Vanguard action. Mainly a parts-gun with a nice new 1-7”t Hardy stainless barrel. BBL length is 21.5”.
Spun up a couple of nice accurate loads with a very minimum of tuning. Thought I’d share.
105g Hdy BTHP

No worries. It was 25 grains of H4895 on the dot.
The same rifle used 23.8g of H4895 to drive a 75g Amax 2825fps for reference.
I found the 4895 as accurate as Varget in my 223 and 223AI. Velocities were around the same too though charge weights differed a little.
Good luck and let us know...
