Update on the .416. Scope is mounted. I could only get 3 rings on it. If I catch it slipping I will mill another slot on the base and add a ring.
It is a blast to shoot. Literally. It’s like a stick of dynamite going off right in front of you. I am trying to decide which bullet to sight it in...
I am a Partition lover. 125 gains from your list. My 260 handgun has a 1:8 twist barrel. I shoot 140 grain Partitions in it and it is a deer killing machine. I hasn't shot a group over .5" at 100 yards with the 140 over H4831SC.
I have been emailing back and forth with DR. Larry Rogers AKA WV Hitman. If you aren't familiar with him he is one of the most well know handgun hunters in the world. He said in one of the emails that he ran Ultradot sights on several of his big boomers including the 416 Taylor and they held up...
I am right eye dominant and near sighted with astigmatism in my right eye. I am far sighted with astigmatism in my left eye. She worked it out where my right eye focuses perfectly at 25 yards and weakened the correction for my left eye which makes my right eye do the bulk of the work. The first...
I got to play with some some Ultradot Matchdot II sights. One red and one green. These things are the real deal. Optical quality of the glass is light years ahead of any other dot sights I have used. They have numerous options for the dot sizes and brightness settings. They have a couple of...
I have prescription shooting glasses made. I wear progressive tri-focal and can't shoot well with them. I went to my eye doctor and explained the problem to her. She worked with me diligently to figure out how to improve my glasses for shooting. It works.
I meant to come back and post about that monster. It turned out that 1200-R which thankfully I have (not available right now) will sling the 300 Speer 2457 fps from the 15" barrel. This load is right at the 43,000 psi threshold. In other words 4022 foot pounds from a handgun. Loaded like that...
There it is! This was JD Jones twin barrel he built when he built the one that Dr. Larry Rogers made famous. Doc contacted me and gave me his load data that he used in Africa. New frame will be here in June. I may tear down one of my current guns just to try it out.
I have personally been attacked by coyotes twice. They will attack humans. Most run but some wont. The first time I had an incident I was turkey hunting. I ended up shooting him with a 12 gauge turkey load. It worked well. Dropped on the spot. The second time I was pulling cards on game...
I have a rifle as well. I like the 400 grain partition in the rifle. I have also shot the 300 and 350 grain TSX and the Speer 350 grain. Actually had good results with all of them. The 350 Speer is a great cheap bullet.
