I used the 150 BT at 3030 fps in my .30-06 last fall on a large northern whitetail doe. I shot her high at about 200 yards. The bullet smashed her spine before leaving about and inch and a half exit hole on the other side. Everyone knows this bullet opens well, but I was very impressed with...
I've shot or seen shot many Texas hogs. It is my distinct opinion that bullet type is more important than bullet weight or caliber. They don't seem to be tenacious of life like a whitetail is, but their hide is extremely tough on bullets. I would bet that most whitetail hunters who have never...
I've shot exactly one deer with the 150 BT from a .30-06. It was a northern doe that weighed about 150 lbs. live weight. I shot her high at about 200 yards and the bullet completely severed the spine and left a 1" exit hole. To say I was impressed would be a slight understatement! BTW...
Funny I found this thread as I was thinking of posting the same thing! I'd used the 115 in the Bob on a couple of Texas whitetails and was very impressed. Then I got a new Bob and used the 120. This time the two deer I shot ran 50 and 100 yards ,respectively. They ran much further that I'm...
JD338,
Just FFI, I also loaded H4831 with the ABs. I loaded a max of 48 grains and got 2826 fps. Velocity was about 160 fps slower than the 45 grains of H4350 and the accuracy not as good.
Of course your rifle may be an all together different beast.

I shot three different three shot groups using the 110 AB with H4350. All three groups were under an inch and 45 grains gave me 2977 fps. I am definitely pleased!
I don't have an ADL synthetic stock. The gun I'm getting started life as a .308 Win. Varmint Special with a checkered laminated stock (not the beavertail one on most varmint specials). I've had a .700" barrel contour barrel from Shaw put on. I plan on it being my "sit in the blind deer and...
I need load data for the 110 Accubond in the .257 Roberts. I'd especially like loads for H4831 and H4350 (since I have them on hand). My .257 is on a 700 short action, so "modern" pressures are o.k. Also, please advise as to what velocities I can expect out of a 22 barrel.
Thanks.
I've been reading that the .308 180 Ballistic Tip has been "beefed up" in the last couple of years. Will this bullet expand properly on deer-sized game if shot from a .30-06?
I've killed a couple of meat deer and several hogs with the 125 in a 6.5X55 at a muzzle velocity of about 2780. Everything I shot died very quickly. Both deer were shot behind the shoulder at less than 75 yards. One went down where it stood and the other made about a 50 yard death run. Most...
I ran into something today that I've never seen or even heard of. I couldn't get my RCBS seating die to seat a 115 BST in a .257 Roberts cartridge. I finally got it seated after REALLY torquing it. But then the loaded case would not chamber in my rifle (it had done so with no difficulty...
I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this is an old topic. Tell me about the accubonds. How much expansion can you expect from them? What is the minimum velocity they'll open? And finally, other than shooting what is the most accurate in your gun, why choose an accubond over a partition...
