    257 WM

He does realize that at 500 yards there's no practical difference in velocity or trajectory between a 100- and 115-grain Nosler bullet. Kentucky elevation indeed...... I settled (again) on the Hornady 120 HP in both my .257s (can't find any of the Noslers I have used in the past). The...

    .579" @ 600 yards!

I'm not taking anything away from the shooter or his group, but it appears to be a 'fluke'. The IBS record smallest 5-shot group at 100 yards was fired in 1980 @ 0.052". In 27 years, no one has been able to beat that group. With today's better barels, scopes, bullets and shooters - that tells...

To hot for my 25.06 AI?

When I look at this post it scares me. The OP has abviously not read the front sections of his loading manuals to see what is stated about high pressure signs. How he can even think that he is "below max" with those very strong indications of high pressures is beyond me. I...

AccuBond Maximum Impact 3100 fps. ????

That just happens to be an impact velocity of almost exactly 3100 fps. I'd hate to hit even small bone at a higher impact speed, bone is harder on bullets than water is.... 8) .

    Competition dies for 260 ? ? ?

I use the Redding Competion dies and my pillar-bedded .260 M700VLS shoots extremely well. I use the adjustable neck sizing die, getting the right bushing took a little experimenting but with turned necks the dies work great. .

    Nosler .280AI....Bolt won't close...

Because the AI cartridges are wildcats, there are no SAAMI specifications for the chambers or for the cases. This means that differences of several thousanths of an inch can and do occur. My guess is that the chamber was cut to minimum dimensions, while the brass is on the long side in the...

    Resizing cases .243 to .260

I guess it depends on your accuracy requirements and your chamber. The thicker necks from the .308 cases are a perfect fit in my chamber, fired necks are just 0.001" larger than when loaded. The necks are unifirm in thickness too, unlike the WW and RP caes I've tured, which have necks with...

    Resizing cases .243 to .260

I much prefer to use .308 WCF Lapua brass in my .260. This gives thicker necks for less radial clearance and potentially better accuracy. Necking up .243 brass results in thinner necks. Using .308 cases means the expander does not need to be tapered. .

powder options other than 4350 in my 250 savage

H380 has worked very well for me in my .250 with 100 grain bullets. Nosler #5 shows it to give the best accuracy with the 100-grain bullet. .

    30-06 Varmint Round

First, Federal 215 primers are magnum primers, probably not needed for the powders appropriate for an '06 varmint load. The Federal 210 Match primers are a better choice unless you intend to hunt in very cold temperatures. Varget is always a good choice for light bullets and gives the highest...

    260, 6.5x55Swede 0r 7mm08 ??

Since the vast majority of you shooting will be at the range, accuracy and recoil will be the two most important factors. All three cartridges work equally well on deer. My M700 VLS in .260 is really a target/varmint rifle, but I most enjoy shooting either the Nosler 100 BTips or Sierra 107...

    125 BT 300RUM

There is plenty of pressure-tested "low velocity" data for 125/130-grain bullets in the .300 RUM - just do not go below the listed loads. - Hornady lists seven different powders for loading a 130-grain bullet to a minimum of 3200 fps. - Accurate lists six different powders for loading a...

    45 - 70 bullet performance

I imagine that the Nosler Partition bullets are holding together just fine, but they lack the sectional density of heavier bullets. A 300-grain bullet is actually very light for a .45-70, but a 550-grain bullet may not work at all if you shoot a Marlin - the cartridge overall length is too...

    257 weatherby help

I'm having a little trouble reconciling your two statements. I certainly wouldn't say that 1.5 moa is 'no group at all'! The best loads for my .257s are with IMR7828 and Reloder 22. They are both slow powders and they might do better for you...

    Which Caliber?????

The 55 BTips at 4100 fps have to be shot to be believed. They are the most accurate load in my M77VT .243, and they shoot flatter and drift only a little more than the heavier varmint bullets out to 500 yards. Add an increased impact velocity for more bullet expansion and they are hard to...

    257 weatherby help

Okay, then you don't have the old twist rate, good. We really can't help much unless you tell us what you have tried. It may be as stated above, your rifle may just not like the 110ABs - but I'd sure try some different powder combinations before I gave up. Are you seating the bullets any...

    257 weatherby help

I suspect that the problem may be your rifle. Earlier .257 MkVs made before 1972 had 12" twists, which will stabilize a 100 BTip but not a longer, heavier bullet. The AB is both and would need a tighter twist to group. Modern MkVs have 10" twist rates, which would explain why other .257...

    Re-chamber .25-06 to .257 Weatherby Magnum

Cloverleaf, you are an extreme powder hog! That over-bore .250 Savage is a disgraceful waste of powder! Get yourself a .25-20 and learn how to hunt! J/K. Actually there are plenty of bullet choices in .25 caliber, enough to satisfy almost anyone's practical desires. I have two .25-20s, a...

    Which varmint rifle?

Yes, the 12" twist is fine for bullets of 55-grain weight. My old Colt CAR-15 with 16" barrel and 12" twist shoots the old Nosler 60-grain SB bullets into moa, don't worry about that twist rate.....don't worry unless you want to shoot the 68-grain and heavier bullets, then it won't be enough. .

    silencer for sendero

Hehehe, I love that statement. Countless head of game are killed every year with 200-250 grain bullets going 1000-1200 fps - out of handguns. The bullets break bone easily, even on elk-sized game. True, these are bullets of .410" and larger diameter - but a .308 bullet of that weight has a...
