appreciate the input guys... I am going to take a trip Tuesday to a couple little shops in Minnesota... One has the 70 Flwt in .257 Roberts, the other has one in 7mm08, both for around $750. But I will be sorely tempted to buy the close out 2013 X bolt Hunter walnut for $659 in .270 Win...

How is the trigger pull? Can it be adjusted down to 3lbs or less?

Cannot get a 7x57 but found a new Mod 70 Featherweight in 7MM08 for $739... Anyone familiar with the new Winnie trigger? Browning told me their X bolt trigger bottoms out at 3 lbs for safety sake...Cuz I found an incredible deal on a new 2013 X bolt walnut in .270 for $659! :twisted:

I returned to the range today...first opportunity is some weeks. I had some promising 150 and 165gr loads so far, but nothing had "jumped out" as THE LOAD for this sweet little .308 Win. yet. Lar (Longwinters) suggested trying some CT 168gr Ballistic Tips...Thank You Long~! :grin: Today it was...

Hmmmmm...my previous 7mm08s were 1 in 9.25" twist... So what adjustment would one make for an accurate load in a bbl with more twist? Maybe 140gr bullets? :?

I have tried several test loads using RE 15, IMR 4350, IMR 4831...mostly with 160gr bullets and a couple 150gr bullets. So far I only got acceptable groups with 160gr accubonds behind 39gr RE 15 and 150 NPTs behind 42.5gr of IMR 4350... Ready to try my tried/true 42gr RE 15 ahead of a 140gr NPT...

I am chomping at the bit but have not gotten her out to the range yet...I have 95gr BTs and also 100gr NPTs to try. I got my dies and also topped her with a new Leupold 4x12x40. I am hoping to take Longwinters out with me next weekend...I will post a range report! :grin:

Just found 3 boxes of 160 PTs... I had a 700 CDL in 7mm08 that shot 160 PTs into 0.50", but that had a 24" bbl... I will load some of each 150 and 160 PTs :wink: and do a range test...

OK gents, I am starting the dies up to rock n roll again! Next project... Browning BLR in 7mm08... topped with a 2.5X8 VariX lll this rifle for mixed hardwood/conifer thickets and cedar swamp edges....Black Bear/Deer I have some 160 Accubonds, 150 PTs, and 150 Accubonds on hand... and RE 15...
