You only need one square cut, the one on leading end-edge of the "ring". Its why before cutting you square the neck using your trimmer and deburr as usual. After cutting what remains of the neck is trimmed a bit more but only to add a bit more clearance so the ring doesn't bottom out.

My tuned 505 is on a fixed level base on a shelf a tad below eye level.
The "nub" on the adjustment foot rides in a steel bushing. The two angled pins on the right, one each in front-back, locate the right side of the scale body. Between them I can remove the scale and replace it back to it's...
Another way sacrificing a fired or new stick of brass.
1. Trim/square the neck of a FL sized case w/ .002- .004" shoulder bump, inside-outside chamfer.
2. Cut .100"-.200" or so off it off making a "ring" of brass. I/O chamfer the cut off end.
3. Re-trim-square the case an additional .100" or...
My youngest grandson's first ever "trophy".
When he said it was pretty small I told him it was a lot bigger than the one I got. "But Pop, you didn't shoot one"... After a few seconds he got my drift!!!
Anyway, his 7-08 and an old 7-140 Solid Base did the trick.

Me? Reintroduce the old time as they were Solid Base bullets, specially the 6-100s, 25 -100/120s, 6.5-100/120s, 27-130s ,7-140s and if there's time 30-150/165s. Now that my son, three grandsons and I are all using them in various calibers-weights my stash is starting to get a little on the low...

I made these for my Wilson trimmers.
I don't know if those type are still available today or not, I bought them from Sinclair years ago. They're the same diameter end to end, no shoulder. I used the collars set the depth of the cut. What it is I haven't a clue without checking. I set them...
I make chamber casts using Cerosafe. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/barrel-tools/barrel-chamfering-accessories/cerrosafe-chamber-casting-alloy-prod384.aspx
They're not difficult to make but will require some practice to turn out reasonably good ones.
This is one I made of a...
Thank -you. I have a stash of all those plus a few others but my manual seems to have taken legs and flew the coup. Actually a young lad was wading into the reloading swamp and needed a few manuals so I gave him a few,my old copy with the BCs included!
Since the mid 70s the old SBs...
Does anyone have they're advertised BCs? Specifically the 25-100s/120s, 27-130s, 6.5-100s/120s and 7-140s.
I still have somewhat of a fair supply of those weights-calibers but I'm hold'n out hoping someday..... :)

I'm tad late here but a little story.
There of use were hunting together the first year Pa started the concurrent antlered and antlerless season Early in the week Tom had taken a small six , Tony an I were deerless so on Thursday we decided we were going to line up about 75 yards apart...
Its not so much the weather temp as the cartridge temp. If I going to shoot the ammo/load I'll be using in the fall/winter when the temps will usually be in the 30s-40s I'll put it in a cooler with a ice pack if the temps are in the 70s or higher. The cooler keeps it at about 40-50 degrees.

A new old stock 505 I recently tuned....
In this instance the original pan support, the older style D5-7 support and funnel pan I'm using were re-calibrated AFTER adding the extended pointer. Both supports and pans weigh the same within .00005 of an ounce on my Gem Pro 250. I can mix...
I know a "Meredeies Bentz" is out of the question, so in lieu of how about some my old reliable antiquated Solid Base bullets?
Now that I have son and three grandsons using up my old stash I'm starting to run low on a few calibers/weights especially 24/100s, 25/100s-120s and 6.5/100s-120s...
The "smoothies" have been around a few years now. Fred makes this wrench for them and the smooth ones with a spanner hole.
Some guys toss them and use the old original slotted style when swapping barrels.
