100 grain or Less for 7mm bullets

Could you make A 100 grain bullet or even a 90 or 80 grain for the 7mm-08 for hunting Varmits. I looked in my load books and found that Barnes has a 100 grain for 7mm-08 and so does Hornady.

80gr -100gr bullets are extremely light in .284 diameter and would have a poor ballistic coefficient. I have been shooting the Hornady 120gr V-Max in my 7mm-08 with good acuracy and devastating results on fat PA groundhogs.

Nosler's 120gr B-Tip would also be an accurate bullet but I believe that it is designed for biggame rather than small varmints.

Bert, do not dismiss that 100 grain Hornady HP. I found I had a box on the shelf and decided to work up a coyote load for my 7-08.

I started at 45 grains of Varget and worked up to 47. The 47 grain load gave me nearly 3100 fps and a three shot group of 0.42 inches. (This in a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle
LSS.)

I need to go find a coyote to try it on. :grin:
