I know this has been debated many times but I would like opinions again between using Balistic tips vs accubonds in 7mm 140 grain

Im set on the 140's in both bullets so I would like to keep it at that.
I will be hunting whitetails in the 250lb range and at 100-500 yard shots
AB and BT both under .3 moa out of a 7mag at about 3185fps
I have always used ballistic tips on Alabama Deer(180lbs), but rarley shoot over 150 yards and have always taken safe shots, but am considering AB's because of the larger game and longer shots. I never want to lose any deer but I definately dont want to lose what Im going after on this hunt.
Does it really matter which bullet I use between the two

Opinions Appreciated

250lb Whitetail, sounds trophy size

It's not the far shots you have to worry about, it's the close one's. BT's are not made for impact at the muzzle velocity you are describing, and I've seen the lighter BT's fair on close shot's at high velocity. AB's are a different story. I shot my Mule deer this year at about 50, with a 7mm STW. the 160gr AB had a muzzle velocity of about 3500 FPS.
I recovered it about 3 1/2 feet into the deer. It weighed out at 99 grains, and was nicely intact. I'll try to post a picture tonight.

When in doubt, especially on a trope hunt, shoot AB's.

I'd go with 140 ballistic tip or AccuBond in the ribs, neck or head. 3100 impact velocity or less should be fine with a bt just stay off bone. Now, step up to a 160 parttion on the other hand and hunt deer too moose.

I would recommend the 140 gr AB. Its a very tough bullet and will plow through bone.

sniper is right, I've never not shot through a deer with a ballistic tip past 250 yards, but many times inside of 100 I've recovered the bullet. I still shoot 140 ballistic tips in my stw, 140's at 3550 fps, almost every deer I've ever shot with it was bang/flop, I think 2 ran 40 yards tops. have shot about a dozen with my 7mm Allen Mag and 160 accubonds at 3575 fps, from 375-822 yards, only one didn't exit, it hit a limb, made a tennis ball sized enrance on the onside hip of a hard quartering away deer, bullet was found in the lungs, not much left of it.

I have been loading for the 7mm mag for a number of years and last year we started to use 160 accubonds.
Using 60grs of IMR4350 not only are they flat but they do great work in the field. I saw 2 mature cow elk taken at over 300 yards and both 1 shot kills found the bullet in one of the cow in the opposite shoulder it was recovered intacted still weight 150grs.
We also used them on big Saskatchewan Whitetail and had one shot kills.
