You will be totally impressed wtih Accubonds on elk. 160gr from your 7mmRM will do the job, even a 140 gr. I shoot 180gr AB's from my 300WM at elk, moose, bears, wt, mulies. Same results with my 270WSM with 140 grainers AB's.
The 270WSM with 140gr when thru (double lung) the bull moose my wife shot last season @ 325metres (350yrds.)
My fatherinlaw was shooting the Winchester Supreme ammo in 160gr Accubonds with same great success/resluts- BANG/FLOP , 1 shot kills.
Thats how most of the AB's results have been. Small entrance wound, good sized exit with servere internal damages.
No field experience with the 160 gr AB but I can tell you that it is a very accurate bullet. I shot a 3 shot group from my 280AI at 100 yds that measured .092".
There are several here as well as LRH that have had great success with this bullet. Also a pic here of a recovered bullet that looks very impressive.
