I discovered a couple of bags of 167 grain E -Tips in my bullet stash and loaded some up for the 308 Ruger Predator.
I loaded the first bunch with 42.0 grains of Varget and set them up at what appeared to be 2.808 OAL.
I shot a 3 shot group the other day of 1.75" with no pressure signs.
I upped the load to 43.0 grains. While seating them I found a substantial variation in OAL and discovered the bullets vary in overall length a length to the ogive.
I shot the first three that were 2.808 OAL and grouped 1.125".
The next three were around 2.780 OAL and had a flier. 2.75"

The only things I take away from this is upping the load to 43.0 grains doesn't seem to hurt. It may be worth while to separate these bullets by length. Until I get it sorted out I should keep my shots under 200 yards with this load.

In my experience with the E-Tips (257, 7mm 338) the best accuracy was seating the bullets .100" off the lands.

According to the measurements I made, 2.808 is .100 off the lands in this rifle.

I am definitely coming to love the E-Tips. Looks as if you have a load that shows promise.

In 243 and 300 win mag I found .030" off lands to be best. Did you get any Chronograph data? My 22" 700 rifle would be near 2500fps with your load.
