On the James Calhoon web site, they tote the .19 caliber's. For sure they sound interesting. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of them? It would seem that they have alot going for them...

Hi Steve....welcome to the forum Sir!

Cheyenne Wyoming huh? Well we're City-mates then....

I have a friend in town who is heavily involved with rifles like I am. He got tired with the moderate to the big ones and now considers he 223 his big bore! That is the biggest gun he owns. Anyway he has played with everything from 14 Walker to the 220 Swift. I remember him telling me the 19 is basically (as you know) between the 20 and the 17's. Since the introduction of the 204 Ruger and wildcats like the 20 Vartag turbo etc. there really is not anything that the 19 can do that others can not.
Unless you're going solely on the cool/oddball factor. 8)

For sure I tend to be a sucker for the different. As I recall however the .19 offered better ballistics thru better bullets, ie. BC's. It would be interesting to talk to someone that actually had first hand history with the .19's and say any of the .20's. The .204 is very interesting, but based on some of my research it may be a little light for coyotes. I'd think I will stick to something big enough to pop a coyote and do the prairie dogs no small amount of harm! It's fun to just ponder...

My take on it is for parrie dog shooting where you shoot lots of rounds its the small effeicent cartridges that their after like the 19 Badger and 19 Calhoon. With recoil like a 22LR, and lower barrel heat up.

You could have used either the 17 or 20 cal for each but they split the differance. James makes the only 19 cal bullets I know so that may say something. In my opinion if he made those cartridges in 20 cal it would be better because there are more 20 cal bullet manufacturers.

I would love to have a 20 or even 22 Badger
