I picked up a 700 limited run in 221FB (1:14 / 24"). I now need loads for it. Thought berger made a 45gr (nope) And Sierras may be too hard for yotes. So any help on bullets and powder that work for you 40-50gr. I have AA1680/Lilgun/H322. BR4 and Fed 205 primers.

I wanted to buy some Nosler ammo, Midway is out whats a guy to do!

I haven't started loading for mine yet. In fact, I just starting shooting it a couple of months ago... it one of the Remington Classics from 2002, it's been sitting in my safe since then. I have about 200 Remington green-tip factory loads, so I'm pretty well stocked for now. I was both excited and bummed when Nosler announced they were going to load for it... excited for the obvious reasons, bummed because who know how long it will take me to go through 200 hulls!

221 FIREBALL 40 NBT 18.3/H4198 3250 * REM WSR REM 700 CLASSIC

221 FIREBALL 40 SIERRA BK 18/H4198 3115 * REM WSR REM 700 CLASSIC

I think the rem classic and this limited run is the same barrel contour. Is there a perferance in accuracy between the 40/45/50gr bullets?

I have not purchased any bullets for it yet but have some 40gr BK's and berger HPV bullets from my hornet lodings. The 45gr hornady might be a good thing to try. I think it was in Noslers manual they said their classic prefered the 50gr and IMR4891. Besides target shooting this would be my close cover yote/bobcat gun (20-150 yrd) so a 40 gr would be find and a 50-55gr in the 223rem. I did check an old Berger panplet and they did make a 45gr HPV that would have been nice as long as my gun liked it.

I will check on this CAN I buy ammo from Noslers web site? And I think Midway may have had one bullet wieght in stock. As for the new Varmagiddin bullets any on game performance differances between tipped and HP bullets and 40 verses 50gr at 221 velocities?

I do not mind buying the best powder for the 221 specialy to start with but have AA1680/AA2230/ LilGun/ H322 on hand if they are just as good.

Seems Lilgun or REL7 are the powders to use. 40-50 gr works well and the 40 will go 100fps less than the 223rem can push one. (3400-3600fps)

From an article by Mike Pierce. Aparently Nosler ballistians favor the 221FB I read that in two or three articles? I will get so Nosler brass in May as this is the release date? And for now its only REM ammo thats avalible 2-3 boxes should sirfice for shooting/reloading till than.
