Found some RE-17 at a local shop recently... so I bought a pound to play with. POP hooked me up with some quickload data on the 85 NBTs that included RE-17... so I loaded up a dozen with 55.5 grains and headed to the range. They shot right on par with my standard 56 grains of RE-19 load, around 3/4"... but were over 150fps faster... clocking 3685 out of my 24" factory pipe.

Anyone else try RE-17 in the .25-06? I'm thinking of running it behind some 100 NBTs next... maybe POP can run a quickload on that for us.

That load is smokin' 8)
Try adjusting the COL, you might get it to shoot even tighter!

I think there's something new and remarkable about Re17, but Alliant has not stated, as far as I know, that there's any new technology or chemistry involved. I suspect there may well be though...

I'll tinker with them a little... but truth be told that's about all the accuracy I truly expect from my factory Rem pipe. 3/4" has been more than sufficient to kill milk jugs out to 600-700 yards with relitive ease...

I have had several M700's shoot sub .5 MAO. I would bet if you tinker with it, you could do the same.

That will surely smoke dogs out to 600 yards.

I've never tried RL17, I always used RL19 and achieved 1/2-3/4 MOA at 3600-3750fps.

I agree with JD, you might be able to get down to 1/2 MOA with a seating depth change or primer swap, just make sure you do 1 thing at a time to control the variables.

I'm fairly certain I could play with them enough to get in the 1/2" range... but it really isn't that big of a deal to me. I don't have anywhere to shoot that's within 1/2 hour... so if I'm driving an hour out to do some shooting... it ain't for load development.

My Savage 112 VLP in .25-06 did its best to date using 54.5gr RL17 and
85gr NBT's, with two consecutive groups right at 5/16". The chrony
showed they were going 3500fps out of a 26" pipe.

If I can get 3 other rifles to have the same improvement with RL17, there
will be a 5# order of it in my near future! It cut the '06 group sizes in half.
