I load to a COL that fits the magazine. The 338 RUM has a lot of free bore and I have never measured it. It just shoot good so I leave it as it is.
I haven't messed with it, but if I had a LR 338, that would be my bullet of choice. Can't beat the BC and bonded construction for animals you would use the 338 on. Since I am only shooting a 338WM, I think the PT does fine out to 500 and that is about my personal limit for hunting. It is a monster, as is the 225gr AB which also shot really well. Scotty
Jake, have you ever tried the 225-250gr PT's? I shot some 225gr AB's and they shot good, but have since swapped to the PT's. I guess on elk, any of them will work fine. Hoping the 250's shoot well though, I think they would be the ultimate elk/bear load, and with the B&C reticle, it shouldn't be any big trick to get them dialed in out to 500 yards or so. Scotty
