I am just wondering if anyone has ever used 150 grain bullet and retumbo and what was your load? Thanks in advance

I dont think you can get enough of it in there to get any velocity gain. I tried some H1000 in my .270 w/140's and 150's and that was my problem. My velocities were 100-150fps less then using normal powders such as RL-22 or 4831.

Although Retumbo is golden in the 270WSM, it's to slow for the 270 Win.
In fact, Retumbo isn't even listed for the 270WBY and a 150gn bullet

Try the medium powders such as 7828, IMR 4350, H & IMR 4831, and Hybrid 100V.

H1000 is a compressed load with a 150gn bullet.

I have thought of trying 7828 with 140's to maybe gain a little speed if I don't lose accuracy. My 4350 load is accurate, but a little slow.

You could also consider Accurate MagPro. Velocities will be excellent if you can find an accurate combination using it.

In my 270 I use 7878SSC in the 140 gr ballistic tip. Groups at 100 yds with all bullets touching. Velocity with a 22 inch barrel is 2940 fps. Maybe I could get a faster load with something else, but I stopped when I got the all touching group.

oldman if you dont mind me asking how much powder are you putting in with imr7828ssc

60 grains and OAL as long as will fit in my Model 700 Remington magazine. I've never chron'd any other combo's in my rifle so I don't know if 2940 is good or not! I do know the damn thing sure shoots.

How were the pressure signs with this load?

I would say for a 22", if you get around 2,950 or higher with the 140, you are doing well! That is nearly 100fps over my IMR4350 load with the 140Acc, a great all round set-up. I will give your load a try, working up of course.

There are no pressure signs with my gun, but that doen't mean yours won't have some. Work up slowly! I got this load from a Rifles magazine if I remeber correctly and an older Speer manual has the 150 grain bullet with 58, the 130 at 62 grains. I worked it up with my rifle and it is just fine.

Well i finally got around to load a couple rounds and work up to the 60 grains of powder and when I got there there was no sign of pressure at all. The velocity that I reached for an average of 5 shots is 2961 fps. Now later today I am gong to go try for groups and I will let you all know. Again Thank you far all of your help!

Acouple years ago decided needed a 270 so had one done up with 24" Hart barrel 1/10 twist build on win action. I worked up a load using Nolser 150gr Partition with 55gr/H-4831 @ 2905fps published velocity at max. My rifle gave average 2940fps later I developed a load using 140gr TSX max load was 54gr/H-4350 published velocity was 3030fps from Barnes. 52.5gr/H-4350 with 140gr TSX gave me 3042fps working up to max of 54gr gave me 3172fps good 140fps over published velocity. I got no pressure signs that was in 2007.

Last year I decided to build another 270 used a Lilja 1/10twist barrel 24.5" long on Rem action. I got the rifle in Feb of this year and I want to just shoot the 140gr TSX in that rifle. Worked up to a max of 54gr/H-4350 with 140gr TSX @ 3183fps was 11fps that the Hart barrel 270.

I did shoot some Hornady 140gr and Sierra 140gr in both rifles on average those bullets were appr 100fps slower than the TSX.

Wished Nolser make a 140gr Partition.

Well just got back from the range. Took the 25-06 and the 270 win. With the load of a 140 grain hornady interlock and 60 grains of IMR 7828 ssc and CCI large rifle magnum primer my grouping was .357 inches from center to center at 100 yards. Then the groups for the 25-06 at 100 yards was .482 inches from center to center. That load consists of 117 grain sierra spitzer boat tail 60 grains of H retumbo and a CCI large rifle magnum primer. Now I just need to try my CCI BR-2 primers to see if I can shrink the group with the 25-06.
