I'm loading 270 w/ imr 4350 powder, 130 gr E-tips. Should I go 53.0 powder and same ocl of 3.340 there is nothing in book 6.

Use the mid-range charge of IMR4350. For the 130 grain BT, 130 grain BST, 130 grain PT and 130 grain AB, the maximum charge of IMR4350 is 55 grains and the minimum charge is 51 grains, use 53 grains as the maximum charge with the 130 grain E-Tip. Back off at least 5% and work up slowly. Remember to load at least 0.050" off the lands. You'll probably find that the best accuracy occurs around 0.100" off the lands.

DM,
Thank you for replying. There is an issue w/ me using the lands. I not very confident with that. So what would be the next alternate means of determening bullet height or OAL length?
Thank you!

I have been using IMR 4350 for at least 30 years in my 270 win.
I have been using 53.5 grs. of IMR 4350 in both 130 gr. Nosler partitions and also in the ABs.
I have been able to get .5 @ 100yards with this load when I am shooting right. Chroni at around 2900 and change.

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,
That is great, have you experinced this practice with the 130gr E-tips. I dont have the rifle with me so when I get there I would like to have some ammo. I'm looking at some of those tool but they all have to be physical installed on the rifle.

No I have not used the Etips yet, but from few friends that have used them. I was advised that they are very similar to the ABs.
I have been told that the Etips are a little longer than the AB so you may have to seat them a little more.
For hunting I try to stay right around factory for over all length.
If you go into hunting portion of the forum and find my post on Elk hunting you can read about the 5 X 5 bull I got with the 130gr AB. Now for Mule deer last week I used a partition130gr. as I have had them for around 30 years. They shot within a inch of where the ABs shot.
I am not sure about CA you may not be able to use ABs because of the lead

Blessings,
Dan

Dan,
I'm loading these because of our stupid rules. The dam buzzards are still dying. I hunt Montana almost every year or every other year. I'd like to try the Accubonds. I just picked up couple boxes of Nosler Ballistic tips that was ordered wrong. Not sure if I'll load them dont know a thing about them.

While I did not use a 270, I did use the 130 grain E-tip to take a BC moose and a fairly large mule deer this fall. Either animal was felled quite readily. I did not recover a bullet as each passed through or penetrated more than three feet and was lost in the gut pile. I have witnessed excellent performance with ABs in the 7mm WSM, the 7 STW, the 338-06 and the 376 Steyr.

Huntr Pat,
I do have a little experiance with e-tips and IMR 4350 and XMR 4350 in .270 for deer and coyotes here in the peoples republic of California, they do work. 53 grns was fine with no pressure signs and accuracy is more than enough for hunting .
