Doing some load development for a buddies Tikka T3 and my initial load was with 130gr BT over H4831ssc. Looking promising, but looking for some other suggestions.

my load has always been 130 anything with 60 gar h4831 or rl22

Thanks FOTIS. Will try 60grs. Did you notice any difference with the SSC compared to the standard H4831?

No sir none at all. Same goes with my IMR 7828 and 7828 ssc

I have shot those 130 BT,s with three different powders including IMR-4350, IMR-4831 and H-4831. Tell ya truth all three worked just fine. I can,t figure out how to make them shoot bad. With H-4831 I use 60 gr. If I go past 60.2 accuracy suffers. With the 130 PT I use 60.2 as my most accurate load. If you would really rather try a different powder then the other two I mentioned above have been real winners for me. I really like to tinker with powders. I try not to get stuck on just one. The .270 is like the 30:06. A lot of different powder choices will work fine.

Try some of the new IMR-4451. It seems to behave like the 4350s but is labeled as temperature stable. I've gotten 3124 fps with 57grs from a 22" barrel. Win cases and federal primer. Velocity has been very consistent and accuracy has been around 3/4" from my featherweight over several outings. Of course that was with the Partition but it should work with the ballistic tip too. If you choose to accept this mission, I started at 55.5 grs and worked up. Hodgdon web site listed a max load of 46.5 grs but the pressure was well below max.

Boy that sounds like a good one there Bruce. I have a few rounds loaded with H100v and RL-22. Both will be new to me. I hear both of those can be temp sensitive. I will grab some 4451 and see what happens. I have noticed I normally get a bit higher velocity with BT,s than with PT,s with the same charge. Your load looks very interesting to me. I like where 4451 sits on the burn between IMR4350 and H4350. Thanks for posting Bruce. Good intel.

Will try upping the charge to 60grs for the BT. I also picked up some 130gr SGK and will try some 4350 as well as the 4831.

The 130 SGK is and IMR4350 is a fine combo. I call it the bang flop load on deer. With PT,s you have to track em five to ten feet. Ha Ha.

Got out to the range and tried some 130gr SGK with H4831.

I'm sold on those fed 210Match primers in many non-magnum cartridges.

Boomer, nice group!

Looks as if you have a terrific load to work with. That'll do, for sure.

Nothing wrong with that group. That will kill deer all day long. Great workup!

We are heading out this weekend and hopefully will get a chance for field test. Taking my S2 in 25/06

I second the RL22

I never tried RL-22 with 130,s. Tell me more. I only use it for the 06 and 300 mag. what works for you guys using it for the .270?

That looks really good to me. I wouldn't change anything. Maybe play with seating depth a bit just to see?

It sure looks like you have developed a fine load & it does prove that the 270win can be accurized using a number of different powders (y). I have been shooting the same load for over 40 years & I can't use any other powder than IMR 4350 as it has always been excellent in my rifles .
I always start at 53.0grs. and work up from there. My CDL has a 24" barrel & has been my most accurate rifle too date in this calibre .
I have never used Seirra bullets but my Nosler ABs have never failed me & before that I used Partitions.
The load I use is 54.5grs. of IMR 4350 with ABs on top, I use 210m primer & the OAL is 3.340". My chrono states it is right at 3050fps & the moa when I do my part is .5".
I know some have stated they have had trouble with temperatures variance but I have never had a problem and here in Saskatchewan I have shot Elk in the 80s F & Elk in the cold -30 F.

Blessings,
Dan
