.270 WSM 140 Accubond w/ RL22

Hi all,

I have a question about load data for a .270 WSM with the 140 gr AccuBond with RL-22 powder. The reloading book in the store had info on the load data, but I cannot seem to find anything online. Can anyone help me with this load? Thanks

I shoot a Tikka T-3 in 270 WSM I use the 140 AB 215M cap and 66 gr of RL22. Start at 60 and work up.

Zac, I'll add my welcome to the forum as well. Fotis gave you good advice. Work up slowly. Sixty-six grains should be a great load for your 270WSM.

The 140 AB out of the 270WSM at about 3200 is pretty awesome. Took my largest bull with that combo. Might not be pure HP, but it works well.

Sixty-6 gr. is MAX. in my new Win 70, 24". The rifle likes 64.0, well enough.

I will run a few loads over the PACT in the spring.

I don't visit here very often, so I'll try to get caught up.

From the Mod. 70s 24" bbl., all loads chronographed over an old PACT, new batterie..

67.0/RL22 drives the 130AB to 3300 fps, into 1/2" at 100.
66.0/RL22 drives the 140AB to 3185 fps into + - 0.30" at 100.
64.0/RL22 drives the 150PT to 3150 fps into 3/4" at 100 and 1.25" @ 200.
CCI 250 primers used in all loads. All loads were worked up in the same lot of once-fired Fed. brass. At the end, all primer pockets were as tight as when started.
It is my belief the Win. stainless barrels on these rifles are a tad tighter
than some other gun makers. Your loads may be more or less along these vels. That being said, I really thought this rifle would create higher velocities than it did.

That is the reason I love my 270 WSM so much. It has shot everything I've loaded in it very well and usually pretty darned fast too.

RL26 is WONDERFUL in that sucker too. Especially with 150 Partitions.

Scotty, what velocity are you getting with that combination? I was thinking of using my 270 wsm on a fall black bear hunt with 150 gr NPT. Kodiak's RL 22 load looks very good with 150 gr NPT's.

I'm getting right at 3200 with 26 and 150 Partitions. I ran Jims load for years as well at 3150. No difference to me, but I went with what is supposed to be a little more stable when I rebuilt the load recently.

As all of my posted RL22 loads were MAX. in my rifle, I will be trying some RL 26 w/ 150PTs as suggested. That should be a great elk load!

RL26 is really at its best with magnum primers too.

I've yet to go out and do a final zeroing but the 270 WSM with 150 Partitions is usually always ready to hunt. It's really a great combo in the mountains.
