So I was just recently able to finish my .280 Ackley winter project. It is a Sako AIII with a 26" finished Shilen #4, 1/9 twist. McMillian classic stock with Light Gray, Dark Gray, and black. The barreled action is cerakoted in Tungsten and the bolt has the bluish/grey microslick. Burris bases, rings, and an Original USA made 3-9x40 FFII With Ballistic Plex.

Really pleased with the project, can only hope it shoots as good as it looks. Will be starting load development with 140 Partitions and Accubonds...I know I should probably test out 150-168 grain loads, but I have always been a believer in speed kills, so we will see what the 140's do.

That's a really nice set up, looks great. The 140 gr bullets at high speed will certainly work well and the Ballistic Plex will work very well for any shot you want to take.

Very nice rifle!
Looking forward to the range results.

FWIW, the 150 gr ABLR's are running 3100 fps out of my 24" 280 AI with RL 22.

Quite a handsome rifle. I should think that fast 140s will work just fine. Should be fascinating to watch load development.

Going to be my all around rifle - mainly deer, antelope, elk, and bear here in Idaho....But if I could scratch together a plains game hunt in the future, think that it would surely fill the bill.

Without a doubt!

That is a great looking rifle in a calibre that is next none  I can't wait for your range report with photos I hope.
I wish I had your capabilities to build my own rifle that would be such a rush .

Blessings,
Dan

And I reckon you've got yourself about the ultimate all round big game rifle in that package.

150g ABLRs for the way out there stuff. 120 NBTs for little'uns. And how about a 175g Partition for anything tough?

You've set that rifle up about exactly the way I woulda'. I might just have gone with a tad shorter barrel but that's trifling.

Well done, looks spot on!
