i've got my 280 zeroed in at 200 yards with a 140 gr BT, and was wondering if I should step up to160 gr bullet instead in case I was to have an encounter with a bear while calling? I also have a load worked up with a 160 gr Gameking I'm thinking about using too.

The 7mm 140 gr BT is a tough bullet and it will get the job done. The 140 gr AB or PT be great for deeper penetration and also smash big bones. The 160 gr bullets will work as well and might do less damage to a nice hide.

The 140 grain BT will work well for wolves and for bears. JD338 is correct that the 160 may cause less pelt damage. I wouldn't hesitate (and don't) to use the 140 grain on these animals.

140 will roll em hard. I'd want the expansion for a longer shot myself. Thinking it'll get it done. Good luck.

I was leaning toward the BT, so that's what I'll go with. Hopefully I'll connect with one.

Your OK, if you shoot straight, if not then nothing works...Didn't say what bear might show up..Grizzleys would be better served with a 160 Nolser Partition, black bear wouldn't make much difference. Wolves are easy to kill.
