The group on the right is the first group with my 30-06 and 165 gr. AccuBond. That's with a fixed 4x Leupold at 400 yards. I found the AccuBond after going through 5 jugs and slipping into one on the side row. It performed pretty well losing a few petals though after I hit low on my shot at the jugs and it tore up the particle board pretty good. Pretty darn tough bullet. Not a pretty mushroom, but I put it through the ringer.

Targets at 400 yards.

The 165 is on the upper right from 400 yards , the lower left is the 180 AccuBond out of my son's 300 WSM at 500 yards. Drilled it first shot and recovered it! :)

I shot a 9 1/2" 3 shot group and new it should be better. I went back and did it again and tightened things up and concentrated a bit more. I started shooting at about 0830 and never finished up until almost noon, running (driving) back and forth and resetting things.

Helps when you concentrate.

500 yard AccuBond from my son's 300 WSM at 2800 fps.

Through 5 and hit 6 and stayed put.

I had enough jugs left to do a 90 gr. E-tip out of my son's 6mm, and a 100 gr. Partition out of my 6mm. I drilled the jugs perfectly first shot with each, and for the life of me I do not know where they ended up. I had some plastic on the ground behind them and I could not locate them. Guess am not finished yet as I have to shoot the Partition and the E-tip both at 500 to compare.

Man! You guys are doing great catching these slugs!

Great shooting David! Seems like that 30-06 is well dialed in buddy! Those are some great looking groups with that rifle.

Great bullet catch with your boys 300 as well.

Excellent data once again, David. You've got the 300WSM dialed in.

David:

A. Outstanding marksmanship!

B. Excellent test of the bullets at longish range.

C. That's a lot of going back and forth! No wonder I do most of my bullet tests up close

Nosler - thanks for making bullets that are accurate, expand well, penetrate and hang together. I can't ask for anything more.

Dang.... Guy

Thanks for the kind words guys. It is a lot of fun. I can't wait for a nice cool morning so I can take the 6mm's out with the Partition and the E-tip and then I'll be finished. Since I have the 6mm's at the distances from 25 on out, I might as well try the AccuBond at 500 out of it as well. Can't hurt.

Good shooting, David! Particle board is very hard on bullets but those AB's still look pretty good considering range terminal velocity, water penetration and particle board to boot!

Great shooting! Mind sharing your load for your '06? At least the powder you're using? Again, excellent job!

300 Win it is as follows for the 30-06:
Winchester brass - Federal 210 match primer - 57.4 grs. of IMR4350 -
3.375 OAL with the 165 gr. Nosler Partition (seating die left as is and loaded the 165 AccuBond)
3.410 OAL with the 165 gr. AccuBond

It shot almost exactly to the same POI and shot just as great as the Partition did! Lots of folks on here have had great success with IMR4350 and H4350 running about 57.0-58.0 grs. Good luck on your load. Of course start below that and work up to it, but in two 30-06 rifles I have had it shot great in both. One is a Ruger 1B and the first was a Remington 700 ADL. It used the Partition seated the same as listed.

David,

Excellent!
Those are nice recoveries.
Great shooting too!

What was your mv on those 30-06-165s amigo? I shoot that same bullet at between 2750 and 2800 in my Model 70 Classic and they are dynamite. :)

That is a great load for sure. If anyone ever convinced me to get a 30-06, it'd be David. He has some excellent shooting loads and rifles, and those are some of the best recoveries I have seen..

.6 grs. difference from mine! Thanks for the info! Again, great shooting!

David, I also use IMR 4350 at 57.5 grains, BR2 primer W-W cases with 165 Partitions. I get about 2860 fps from a 22 inch barrel, Model 70. That is a classic .30-06 load which has been around since I bought my fist .30-06! I posted an 1/8 inch, 3-shot 100 yard group here some time ago with that load.
