58.5-58.8grs IMR-4350, WLR or Fed 210M. Have used that load in Nosler, Win, Norma, Lapua, Hornady and Fed brass without a problem. Used it with various 165-168gr bullets. Very accurate in at least a dozen different 30/06s I have loaded with it.Rick.

IMR 4350 was always my go to powder in the 30-06, 150, 165, and 180 gr bullets. RL 22 is another good choice too.

Funny thing - I've got a few boxes of that exact load sitting here on the shelf too... H4350 and the .30-06 work real well together.

57 grains of IMR4350 and a 165 Hornady BTSP from my 1969 Remington 700 have kept the freezer filled for the last 25 years.....

I bought a 30-06 for my youngest grandson and worked up a load of 165 AB and 58 gr IMR4350 for him. His first big game animal was a raghorn bull elk with that combo. By the way it shoots this load into less than an inch at 100 and he took his first bull at 250 yards cleanly with it!

Anybody else noting a decided trend towards 4350, of one brand or another?

Yes however I do have a couple of boxes of 165ABs and a can of RL 22 that I'm planning to try out one of these days

Guy,

I think IMR 4350 is a classic powder for a classic cartridge, the 30-06.

I load 59 grains max, of RL17 with the 168 grain BT. The 168 has a higher BC (.490) and actually shoots as flat at long range as does the 165 BT.

My oal length is 3.41 and the primers are CCI200s. My groups are around 7/8" and velocity is 3012fps. Quickload estimates pressures at 65K so this only safe in guns also chambered in 270 winchester. I would start loads at around 54 or 55 and work up with either the 165s or 168s.

This load will actually stay above the 1600 fps min impact velocity and deliver over 1000 ft/lbs KE to 800 yards! If I could only actually shoot that far.

That looks to be a great load! I am really impressed with the 168 gr BT. If I fill my 30 cal void with another 30-06, that is one bullet I will shoot a lot of.

Same here. I am itching for a 30-06 and would like to have a good all around load, and it looks like the 168gr BT would be excellent. Plus, you fellers have really given me a great place to start with load development! Scotty
