30-06

Pretty fascinating rifles. I had a Model 54 chambered in .270 at one time. I don't often admit to having owned a .270, even if it was for a very brief period. In fact, I had it before I got my first .280. Still, the Model 54 was a good rifle.

I have an M54 in 30-30. It always draws comments at the range. Accurate too.

Those are some cool -06s.

Made neater due to the peep sights.

Joel, EXACTLY! I think that is what drew me to them! Something in my head clicked when I saw that and imagined crawling across the Rocky's somewhere with some 220 PT's load up in the spout.. What a way to take it back a little.. Almost like archery hunting with a rifle!

Scotty,

Nice rifles. I didn't know Winchester offered the M70 30-06 with a 23" barrel.

Neither did I Jim. I think they have offered some 25"s as well.

The more I think about a 23" barreled 30-0, the more I like it.
Best of both 22" and 24" tubes.

I'm not saying it's not a 23" barrel, but it is possible that it is a 24" barrel and they measured from the face of the receiver to the the muzzle. I've seen a couple of Model 70's listed as have 21" barrels because the 22" barrels were measured incorrectly.

Scotty, everyone should have a .30-06.

Trevor, I will get a 30-06, just not in a hurry. My pops has one so I don't feel too bad about not having one in my safe.

That model 70 is a nice one for sure.
I am enjoying the heck out of my 7600 30-06!
