I found a good load in my 300 win mag using the 125gr ballistic tip. But at 3500fps I'm thinking it might not hold together on close shots. Has anyone seen the 125gr AccuBond. I did a search here but nothing came up. Use will be predators in open country.

If you are shooting coyotes and such I would not worry about the bullet coming apart so much as I would if I was shooting deer size game. The suggested impact velocity of the 125 BT is below 3100 fps for best penetration if my memory serves me right. In my experience with the 125 BT on deer I want my impact velocity to be under 3000 fps. I use this bullet for WT deer in all my 30 cal. firearms but load according to keeping the velocity below 3000 fps which is fine for 99% of the deer hunting I do with these firearms. If my yardage of opportunity for a deer is over 300 yards I use a different firearm.

Good advice, that. Hold the velocity of Ballistic Tip bullets to 3000 fps and they will perform precisely as designed.

Cougar is the main predator I care about bullet performance on, But bear are possible where I hunt some days. With a 3500fps muzzle velocity the 125gr drops to 3000fps right at 200yrds. Still at 2100fps at 600yrds. Point blank range is right at 400yrds. Takes the range finder out of most shooting. I also have 100 150gr ballistic tips If I want to go that route.

If you are going for bear you better have at least a 165 gr bullet and 180 would be better in my book. I would what all the bone breaking penetration I could get to put a bear down quickly and the 125 BT is not the bullet for bear. Matter of fact I would not use any ballistic tip on a bear because they can have a lot of fat under that hide and it will expand that ballistic tip a lot even before it can get into the vitals. I would want at least an 165 to 180 AccuBond and a Partition would be better. I want all the advantages I can get with things that want to bite and scratch on me. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have killed bear with ballistic tips. At least 20 deer, 2 elk. I know very well how good ballistic tips kill game. I'll bet you have not. I have killed 3 deer with 125gr ballistic tips. I'll bet that is 3 more than you. The question is has anyone seen the 125gr AccuBond? Checked sportsman's warehouse today, They had a spot on the shelf for them marked. SW did have bricks of fed210, so it was not a wasted trip.

You have killed ONLY 3 deer with the 125 ballistic tip. I have killed in excess of 50 deer with the 125 ballistic tips, lost count at exact number but over 50. IN the past 2 deer seasons I killed 7 deer with the 125 ballistic tip with a 30-30AI Contendeer pistol. I use it in every 30 cal. firearm I own for deer. So I do know a little bit about what I am talking about when I say the 125 BT is not a bear bullet. Just for the record I have killed hundreds of deer in my life time, lost count years ago, because I did control work on a BIG farm for 15 years where my buddy and I took 100 deer each year. I have killed lots of deer with many ballistic tips in many different weights and calibers and it is a good bullet. I was only suggesting that you use a heaver constructed bullet for bear thinking that you may be in grizzly bear country etc. I have never hunted bear or elk but do live in black bear territory and have many friends that do hunt and kill black bear and have learned from their experience. So no need to get up on your high horse.

NO I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY 125 GR ACCUBONDS.

Most Black bear are under 300lb. On some hunts I pack my 223 with 64gr Winchester power points Or 70gr Speer semi pointed. And would not feel under gunned If a bear came in. Of course these are areas where 70yrd visibility is a long shot. And I'm calling cougar as the primary. I have full confidence in the 125gr BT on a bear. As long as it is not too close or I'm shooting my 300 savage. I'm surprised no one has seen the 125gr AB. It is in the 7th edition.

Might need to hit the nosler store to see if they have some in the bin.

Baltz, I agree with your basic analysis. Above 3100 I switch to accubonds. I would expect the 125gr AB at 3500 to be an efficent killer. I would expect very rapid expansion, but only moderate penetration as a result of the wide frontal area and reduced mass of the light for diameter 125gr bullet. This will translate into very significant damage near the point of impact, but don't be suprised if you do not shoot all the way through on quartering shots.

I encourage you to load some up, and field test them on a front to rear quartering shot on a large doe. Good chance you will catch the bullet. We would all like to see some picture of the bullet and the entry would.

They do not give out doe tags here. Rarely in other areas of the state. I quit applying for the tags. Seasons are about to get going. I just finished my last big job of my work year. For the next 2 1/2 months I'll be hunting. A lot of these days will be spent hunting cougar/bear. Then Buck mule deer for 12 days and 9 days for bull elk. With some waterfowl and chukar fit in. Did not have a chance to do anything with the 125gr this year. If I find some I'll try to get them dialed in for our 10 day February 2014 cougar camp. The 22-250 will be at work until then.

Im thinkin i would like to try that Nosler 125 gr AccuBond in my 300 SA RUM ! I think it will be the ticket for Whiteys and Muleys ! RJ

Still no bullets found. I have got nothing from my Midway alert. I have 300winmag brass and the 125gr AB on alert status. If a miracle happens and they both come in at the same time, I'll start.
