I have just worked up a load for my Grandfather's 300H&H
I wound up with the load suggested by Lyman 48th.
69.0g of IMR 4831 behind a 180g Nos BT
The load will be a multipurpose load to replace his former factory Remington Core-Locks which have been discontinued.
The muzzle velocity is just over 3000 so I believe this will drop impact velocities down enough for elk. I know many of you would reccomend AB or PT but he only shoots behind the shoulder broad shots and will not be making any shots under 125 yards. In addition he usually only hunts for cows.
By the way, this load is shooting subMOA groups off of bags at 100 with an ancient Rem721. Much better than I would have expected.
