Well I think I'm going to trade my 300 RUM for my buddies 300 WM. His is an older post 64 Winchester that is not a bad rifle. I think the RUM is too expensive to shoot and it is just more rifle that I need and can justify. Shall be interesting to say the least. That and I like Winchesters better anyway.

Corey,

Nothing wrong with the 300 Win Mag.

Get some RL 22 and some 180 gr bullets and wou are set. Charge weight is 75.0 grs.

Forgot to ask what kind of velocity are we talking with that load?

Corey

Let us know what you decide. Both chamberings are awesome

Corey, 75-77 grains of RL22 will net between 2950-3050 most of the time. Mike nailed it, the 300 Win Mag is a classic.

Of course, once you get the .300 WM, you won't need the 7mm mag either...

OK - I'll change it around:

If you have a 7mm mag, you don't need the .30 cal magnum.

That works too eh?

Argh. You guys (Guy) thats not right. Can't get rid of the 7mag. Killed my one and only elk with that rifle not to mention I have a lifetime of bullets for it.

Corey

You and me both Corey. Killed my big ol' 6x6 about 12 years ago, one shot from the 7mm Rem mag.

Had my head screwed on straight then and only owned a couple of rifles. Sometime after that I went sort of nuts, bought and sold a BUNCH of rifles... Sigh...

The 7mm mag was a winner. Simple and effective. Should have kept it...

I know of a pretty good way to fix it Guy! PM me some CC numbers..

Marines get obsessive about stuff. He's forgiven, his heart's in the right place. I'm sure ol' Scotty would pick out a whole mess of terrific rifles he thinks I ought to own...

I understand that all too well actually...I wanted 1 rifle really bad, and ended up with 3.........

Corey,

You should be 3000-3050 fps with that load.
YMMV
