Can anyone share their experiences Loading the 300 RUM with 180 E-Tips?
I use to load and shoot Barnes Bullets and wanted to know the differences you experienced good and bad. I want to try the E-Tips soon. Currently I shoot 180 Accubonds using R25 and chronographed this load at 3372 fps with a 26" barrel, got similar results using Retumbo too. Can I expect to achieve similar velocity shooting E-Tips? Are there any pressure issues I need to be aware of using the new Nosler Load Data for Partitions and Accubonds when loading the E-Tips?

Thanks,
Don

Well I don't have a RUM but in my 338 WM, and my 270 WSM I was able to get the same speeds out of the ET as I could the AB. But make sure you don't go over the middle charge for the AB, BT, or PT when loading for the ET. the ET builds more psi than the others so it doesn't take as much powder. It is a really tough bullet!

DON,

Welcome to the forum, glad you are here.

jmad_81 is correct, use the mid load data as your MAX load with the E-Tip bullet. The longer bearing surface of the E-Tip can cause pressure spikes.
My experience with the E-Tip, shares with others here, is that the bullet likes a lot of jump. Since you are shooting a 300 RUM, just load to the max length of the magazine and start from there.

Thank-you to all who replied to the 300 Ultra Mag loaded with E-Tips.
I really appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge, it's will be helpful going into creating my loads. This site is awesome.
Glad to be a Nosler Member too.

DON,

Let us know how your 300 RUM shoots the E-Tips.

That 180gr Etip should be like dynamite in an Ultra Mag. Can't wait to hear how it does. Scotty

Thanks for the replies, I have to purchase the E-Tips, get some loads worked up and get to the range. May be a little while with my work schedule and all, but I will let you know the results with some pics to follow.

Thanks,
Don

Don. the Shooters Pro Shop has 180gr ETIPS on sale right now. They just ran a batch of 2nds, but I guess they are gone. Either way, sounds like a great project. Scotty
