Did I chrono my loads?

You're kidding right? Do you actually think I can sleep at night if I do not know the actual velocity? 8)

If you use a good recoil pad like the Pachmyer Decelerator Pad or Limbsaver, recoil will be managable.

NOW IM LOOKING FOR A CURE FOR HIGH VELOCITY CARTIDGES AND RIFLES, IM BEGINING TO FILL SICK THINKING ABOUT VERY HIGH VELOCITY RUMS,LAZZERONIS, WEATHERBYS AND STUFF LIKE THAT.
MAYBE ITS BETTER TO KEEP SHOOTING MY 708,HIHI
IM CHANGEING THE STOCK FOR A BOYDS JRS STYLE WITH A GOOD
DECELERATOR PAD.
LETS SEE HOW THE FINISHED PRODUCT WORKS.

Sounds nice CZ.

The Decelerator is a good recoil pad, it makes my 338 RUM "comfortable" to shoot.

I mainly used 200g AB and 210g VLD or ULD bullets out of my Rem 700 LSS 300 RUM. Nothing was done to my rifle except trigger work and was glass bedded and free floated after about 300 rounds down the tube..I had no muzzle brake on the beast.

My rifle really liked 92g H-1000 w/200g AB's at 3100fps, or 95g Retumbo for 3225fps. Accuracy was .5-.75" MOA.

For 1000+ yard target shooting, 89g of Retumbo with either 210g VLD or Wildcat ULD RBBT performed great. 3000fps and .5-.75" MOA. Good enough to hit a 15" steel plate at 1150 yards 60-70% of the time...

I took a few elk with that combo, the furthest being 515 yards and the 200g AB left baseball sized holes through his chest and shoulders. Also took a coyote at 775 yards with the same rifle, but with the 200g SMK, and a big black bear at around 250 yards with the same 200g SMK bullet.

Interesting, Rem Man, I down a hog at 291yds using the 200AB (3137fps) and the exit was just slightly larger than the entrance. Granted elk may have larger bones, but they don't have the thick, tough hide that hogs have. Anyway, I took your advice and sighted it in just under 3". I held the cross hairs dead on and let 'er rip. Result, one dead hog.
