i have been working on loads for my ruger no.1 with 165 bt with good results. but would like to here your favorite loads for the 165 bt. any input is appreciated.

case: weatherby
c.o.l. 3.700
trim to 2.810
powder is:
imr 4831 80.0
rl-22 85.0

I'd say you've picked some good powders. I 7828 is good as is re25.

With all the power of the 300 wby 180's and 200's are probably a better choice for big game. I've had really good luck with 7828 and the 180's. I have real fussy 300 lw that really liked the 180tsx over 88.2 retumbo.
It went from doing 5-6" groups at 200yds with many loads to doing 1-3" groups at 300 yds with that load.

looks like you got a winner, i will have to give it a try next time.
the heavy bullets are the best choice,as i am aware of but like to play with the 165 at the range just to see what i can do. for hunting i like the 200 Partition for the bigger stuff. thanx

My buddy is using RL 25 (low eighties -grain wise) and he gets 3060 fps with the 200 grain AccuBond. This is from his WBY Accumark.
I know the fast speeds of the 165 look sexy to you but believe me after a hundred to two hundred yards that 200 gr will rock the 165 BT. At long range (400 yards plus) the 165 looks anemic....in relation to the 200 that is.

i loaded some 200 partitions behind 78gr of rl-22 to try soon.
should get me a little over 2900fps for a decent long range load. :)

shot the 200's with rl-22 at 78.0 with 1/2'' results at a little over 100 yds. no pressure signs yet. should i still work up slowly?? i am at manual #4 listed max. what is the max for the #5 manual??
thanx for the help!!!

didnt he ask for 165grn loads??? all you guys are giving is 180 and 200grn loads...... i know you guys on here are big fans of "big" heavy wiehgt bullets but some of us still are happy shooting 165grn out of a 300wby
