Thanks for your help.

No data for you for the long 300 my experience is with the WSM. Though the 150 BT was incredibly accurate in my rifles(an early savage 16 and a Remington 700), I found that on game the speeds I was pushing them (3250-3300) they didn't stay together well. On several deer at moderate ranges and one up close I would find just pieces of jacket left. I went to a bonded bullet. To its credit I did take my biggest whitetail at 220 yds quartering to shot with entry in front of the onside shoulder, racking the vitals, and found most of it, just under the hide of the offside flank. Total devistation. He made one jump and landed on his nose, DRT.

> I shoot 74 grains H4350. the new run tips shoot though deer.
one shot on a 150 lb. buck quartered through from front shoulder and exited just behind the last rib on the far side. my concern w/ tips is how they'll expand at 400 plus. they shoot sub inch in my sako. good luck!

You probably already checked here?......

Fwiw...I stumbled into a crazy accurate load w/my tikka and 150s.

Its 58.0 of i4320....lymans manual had that data.
It clocks 2820 in my gun....duplicates real world factory 3006 speed and is soft on the shoulder.
Should be less destructive on deer to 350 yds than full power 300 Wm loads.
Thinking a light dose of i4064 would do the same since 4320 and 4064 are so close.

I tried to get the 150gr Ballistic tip to work but my rifle just did not like them. The 150gr Partition did though. H4831 a lot of it.

I have hunted in north east NC for 30+ years where there are a lot of deer and I helped do crop damage work on a big farm where my buddy and I took 100 deer a year for 15 years. My buddy does A LOT of reloading for people and with the 150 Ballistic Tip and 300 mag my experience and the reputation of it from many others that have used it is the same as that described by 26NosFan. Everyone that I know moved up to the 165 & 180 gr BT and have no regrets. In my experience the Ballistic Tip hunting bullets need to impact 3000 fps or slower to work well no matter what caliber. If you want to shoot a 150 gr bullet go to the AccuBond. I have found that 74.2 grs IMR 4350 with 150s is usually really accurate in the 300 Win mag. This is the suggested accuracy load out of one of the older Sierra manuals.

I had very good accuracy, .75 moa, with 80 grains of R22 in Winchester case and cci250. 3300fps so it's a hot one. Start lower and work up to what your rifle likes.

As 26nosfan says I think that's a lot of stress on a BT though. Maybe AB will hold up. I switched to 165 grain bullets for that reason and never shot an animal with the 150BT
