I just got my 300 WSM model 70 back from the smith, had it blueprinted and a wild dog stock inleted and bedded. I mounted a 3-9x40 leupold VxII in talley lightweight ring/bases. Its a little heavier than I had planned, weights just over 8lbs all up with the 7 rounds in the buttstock.

I have a couple hundred 180gr accubonds/partitions seconds and some 168gr Btips that I can load in it. I want a good general purpose big game load for deer - moose. I was thinking the 180 or 200gr AccuBond or Partition would be the bullet of choicee. I have some ramshot hunter and big game, H414, and a few other powders and am open to any others out there.

Any loads you can recomend would be great.

Thanks

Nice rig! I think you already have the makings of a great round for your 300WSM. 180 Partitions and Ramshot Hunter. I load for three 300WSM rifles and Hunter has been the best choice for accuracy and velocity in all three.

Winner rifle. My Vanguard likes 66 grains of IMR4831, CCI250, Winchester cases. I just don't like its trigger. Waiting for my trigger to come in.

.............................Just a little extra tid bit for you to ponder!.......As a 300 WSM owner myself, I will try IMR 4007 SSC on my next batch of reloads! This relatively new powder from IMR has a burn rate between 4064 and 4350! Great accuracy has been reported using various charge loads from 300 WSM owners. There is reloading data on the Hodgdon web site..................The advantage that I see with the 4007 is that you will use less powder per round (10 grains on the average), while closely nearing the velocities of the slower burners and with better accuracy!.............One report that I read on another site stated that while working up his loads starting at 57 gr. w/ a 180gr. bullet, the bullet holes all touched each other, with all groups, with all charges, up to and including 60 gr. with no pressure signs at the 60 gr. level. Very impressive accuracy!..............On the IMR website under the news category, they provide a news release from last year talking about the 4007! From all indications that I`ve read elsewhere as well, the 4007 could very well be the ideal powder for the 300 WSM!............

Took it out to the range to shoot it today..... shoots much better. I had some federal classic 180s and Fed premium 180 TSX loads and a couple 165gr Fed fusions. The Classic 180s didn't do that great 1.5" groups at 100 yards, the 165gr fusions shot pretty well 3/4-1" 3 shot group. The federal premium 180 TSX load shot pretty darn good. These were shooting in the 1.5-2" range before I had the action and bolt trued up. Judging from this 5 shot group it will do under moa, hopefully some good handloads will do even better.

I have a 300 WSM Win 70 SS accuraized by Hill Country.

also added a KDF Brake on it.

Had real good results with RL 19 @ 70.1 with 165 Sierra BTHP and WLRM primers

I have good accuracy w/ my Tikka and 64 gr of H 4350 and CCI 250 mag primers w/ 180 ab's.

had very good luck with 64 grains of IMR4350 and 70.2 grains of RL22 with the 180 Partition. Both with Federal 215M primer. OAL in my Kimber was 2.850. IMR4350 shoots ragged holes at 100 yards. RL22 pretty much the same.

I finally got a chance to do some reloading friday and took the 300 WSM to the range today. I loaded up 5 each from 62-63.5gr of H4350 in .5gr increments with 180gr Partition. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with 62, 62.5 was a little better but still not good, and 63 was really bad. I was about to just give up on this powder but decided to shoot my last batch. 63.5 must have been the sweet spot because it went from 3" group to 1/2" group in that half a grain. After the first three shots went into a tight little cluster I decided to save the last two for the chronograph. Clocked in at 2923fps. I'm going to have to load some more of these up and do some accuracy testing at longer rangessd. So far it shows a lot of promise.
