Has anyone shot the new short barrel Ruger Frontier in 325 WSM? I am wondering what velocity loss would result from the short barrel. I would like to load Nosler bullets and the data available uses a 26" barrel while this rifle has only a 16-1/2" barrel. Could I still use the recommended loading data? How would the slow burning powder work in such a short barrel? :?:

The 16.5" barrel is going to be loud. Due to the shortness of barrel a +60 grain charge of powder is going to need to be a medium speed powder. The saving factor in the whole thing is that you are pushing a heavy bullet.

An example of the heavy bullet is my competition service rifle in .223 I'm shooting a 80 grain bullet for the 600 yard line. I'm using a full charge of reloader 15, which most reloading manuals don't even show RE #15 as an option.

It may or may not work. I think some others here will also give there opinion. I've been looking at the .325 for a while but I haven't jumped onto that bus yet.
