If any one has some extra 338 caliber 250 accubonds laying around that you may wish to part with let me know.

Bill

The 250's were hard to find even when times were good. You may want to consider the 225's which I have seen around recently.

Either way - good luck

I have 250 partitions and Hornady spire points just no accubonds. I'll find some as they are around or SPS will have some sooner or later and I'll be all over them like a bum on a bologna sandwich.

As for a 225's the only one I would use is the TSX.

While I agree that a 225 Partition is a great bullet and would do every thing I could want I just can not bring my self to shoot anything less that a 250 in 338 caliber.

That is okay, whatever works for you is right and there is nothing wrong about 250 gr bullets in the .338. I was just stating my preferences. I also have a .338 Federal now and use 210 Partitions in it because of small case capacity. Use what works for you!

You have undeniable taste in preferences with a 225 Partition. If it weren't for the 250 AccuBond the 225 Partition would top my list in the 338.

Oh the 210 Partition must shine very bright via the 338 Federal setting.

It does! The 210 gr Nosler runs at about 2600 fps with my setup on the Sako 85 and a Kahles 3-9x42 scope. The Sako will shoot sub MOA groups with the 210 Partition and is a .338 WM, minus 100 yards of MV. I have not had the chance because of illness to kill any elk with it but hopefully soon.

I used the 225 grain in the .340 Bee and it ran at 3080 fps muzzle velocity which was why I wanted that caliber. The 250 grain Partitions ran at about 2870 fps but at 500 yards they were essentially equal. The person who bought my .340 killed a 5-point elk with the 250 Partition this year in that rifle at 500 yards with no difficulty. The Partitions certainly do the job.

I have to agree with you on the 250gr+ bullets in the big case 338's. I normally shoot 210gr+ in my 300 mags so it only makes sense to me to use a heavier bullet in the larger diameter cartridge. I read somewhere that Coni Brooks kills all her BIG game with a 180gr X bullet in her 338 mag so heavy bullets are apparently not "necessary".

I shot some 300 Accubonds in my 338RUM but couldn't get them to group quite as well as the 250's at 300 yds. Like a lot of guys, I'm waiting for the 250 Accubonds to hit the shelves again but it may be a loooong wait.

I agree heavy bullets are not necessary to kill big game, but I sure do like them. The TSX is the one bullet I have dropped down in weight, 225. A person has to use what bullet and weight they have faith in and for me in the 338 caliber it's a 250.

I know I would like to get a bunch of 250 AB's when they drop. They shoot pretty well in my 338 Win Mag at 2750. I am pretty sure that is all I would use if I could find any of them.

A 250 AB at 2750 would be no joke for elk. I'm patiently waiting.

Bill,

As we discussed, let me know buddy.
