Here is a load that I chrony`d awhile back:

375 Ruger Alaskan 20" barrel; 1.5-5x20 VX3 #4

Bullet..............................................225 gr. Horn SP
Primer............................................WLRM
Brass..............................................Hornady
COL................................................3.341"
Powder............................................RL 15
Charge............................................79.8 gr.
Velocity...........................................3016 fps. average
Average group size 100 yards............1.08" OD (3 shot)

Next come the 260 A/B`s

That'll get noticed..Would love to see what heavier bullets do in that case.

..............My 270 gr. Hornady factory loads averaged @ 2703 fps. Guessing, the 260 A/B should probably run around 2750-2825 fps.

Hornady and Nosler make the 300 BT`s that I will also look forward to trying. Guessing 2575 fps to 2625 fps with those.

Kill them coyotes! or 300 yard deer...... :lol:

..............................It would appear that my Alaskan rifle is just a little ahead of your data in the velocity dept.

I also received loading data from Hornady via an e/mail showing 79.5 gr. of RL15 @ 3000 fps. from another the 20" Alaskan using the 225 gr. Hornady SP.......Their chrony results are right on par with mine.

I swear that someone here is a ruger/hornady rep.
.....................You think its me?? Wrong!.... I work for myself, not for Hornady or Ruger!..........Nice try! :lol: :lol: :lol:

.....................Here ya go!

Here is a load I duplicated, taken directly from Jeff Quinn`s test/review on "gunblast.com",,,,"archives" section, dated 2/6/07. His test rifle was the 23" .375 Ruger African.

Everything is the same as my first post on this thread, but with these exceptions. Rifle is the same; my 20" Ruger Alaskan; 1.5-5x20 VX3.

COL= 3.413"
Bullet= 270 gr. Horn SP.
Powder= H-4350
Charge= 87 gr.
M/Velocity= 2818 fps average.
OD average 3 shot grouping= 1.108"
Compressed loading.
Started with 83.5 gr. charge and worked up.

In his article, he specified other Hodgdon powders, but preferred the H-4350 which I used. The velocity from his 23" African using the same charge and bullet was in the 2870`s.

That would do nicely. Try the 260 AccuBond net. Great bullet.
..................Yep! That bullet is also on my list to try later. As a guess, probably will go around 2850, up to maybe 2875 fps. for the 260 gr. AB. :wink:

You are in the ball park on velocities for your Ruger 375, my 375 Wby throws a Nosler 300gr Partition custom ammo at 2830fps.

...................On "gunblast.com" archives section 2/6/07, one of the test loads listed for the 23" African, sends a 300 gr. Horn FMJ @ 2782 fps.... The 23" African is right on the heels of your 375 Wby.

Based on that, I just may get 2700 or so when I later test some 300 grainers from my 20" er!!...........If I`m able to, not too bad from a shorty 20" er,,,,ay???
